Thanks! This kind of hit home last night with me. First time in 35 years I haven't been with my wife for this and the first time in 21 years without my wife and daughter. I will be okay but it is a little heavy on my heart. Trying to stay busy.

I've always spent holidays alone due to anxiety and social issues. Even when married. I'll try to check in and see if anyone needs to talk.

I told myself I would never do another holiday alone so today I will attempt to make my first traditional thanksgiving day dinner with my son.I am very thankful for that.

Holidays are always tough. Whatever it takes to get through the day gents. I’m sober but still find a local watering hole/bar that’s open, easy to find some company, kill some time.

Holidays are certainly a difficult time for me.

15 years of very specific traditions that just don’t make sense alone.

As my wife was British, we incorporated a lot of English traditions (foods, etc…) as well. I truly loved those added holidays like…

Guy Fawkes Day (Bonfire Night) - Nov 5

Boxing Day - Dec 26

Etc…

She was the baker and I was the cook.

I don’t even like cooking for myself. It’s so much work and most of my enjoyment was providing her with a delicious meal. Just doesn’t seem with it for one.

I hope all of you can find happiness in whatever it is that you do tomorrow!

This will be my first Thanksgiving without my wife and without going over to my in-laws. I’m thankful my parents will be hosting for me and I’ll split the time with my kids tomorrow. Could be worse. Remember what you’re thankful for my friends.
