Eff 'em all at Disney/LucasFilm ... They are evangelists of "the message" and they believe in forced conversion to their religion.

To them, the only value a company has is in 'agenda advancement'. Money and stock price is secondary to agenda advancement. That is why they simply do not care about "go woke, go broke", because they are religious zealots who will gladly lose everything they have so long as it advances their agenda.

They literally believe that the purpose for them to be at those companies at this point in history is to use the wealth accumulated through the years to advance their agenda. They are true believers.

I just can't even imagine a world where a man would just be like "yeah! I want to make women uncomfortable! It means I'm doing something right" and then still keep his job, let alone be cheered for it. Even if he was rightfully challenging women on toxic views, and not just being a massive chauvinistic asshole, he would still be booed or cancelled.

Just to clear things up she said this in an interview eight years ago that had nothing to do with Star Wars. This interview was because she made a documentary on acid attacks on women in Pakistan among other movies about marginalised people. I think it is OK if this makes people uncomfortable.

While this one comment is taken out of the broader context it still stands up to the explaining away the feminist apologist are attempting. That isn't her only quote against men. The vast majority of her entire body of work is feminist documentaries. There is absolutely nothing in her body of work that suggests she would be right for this job. She is nothing but a diversity hire that will further damage the Star Wars legacy. The originals were very progressive in their messaging without it being over the top and beating you over the head with it, a technique that has been completely thrown away with the last several offerings. Rey flopped a character but she made money selling toys for little girls and women so she obviously needs to be brought back and rehashed with some fresh feminist manifesto BS.

I'm going to give an opinion that probably not many of you share and it's that I don't care if the director is a woman. Let me explain.

The last decade of Star Wars has been horrible. The directors who has killed the saga has been men, because to me the saga is dead beyond salvation.

There's a new director taking the challenge of fulfilling George Lucas' shoes. I have 0 expectations that she's going to do a good movie, but not because she's a woman but because Disney has completely overmilked the bantha until it was dry and then kept milking.

So I don't care and I won't expect anything good from it even if in the deepest part of my heart I want to be wrong.

Might want to check the context of that statement instead of ignoring what she was talking about. Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is from Pakistan and a lot of her exceptional documentary and filmmaking work has centered on the barbaric actions that MEN in her home country perpetrate toward women and she was answering a question about how men should feel about watching her work.
