People of both sexes fall in love for various reasons on a case by case basis. Personally, I fell in love with my husband before we had sex. He is the funniest person I know and that’s what got me hooked initially.

I wouldn't say it's a strongly gendered phenomenon.

Higher libido women will not be happy in a relationship or likely fall in love without sex that's at least "good enough". Lower libido women will fall in love mostly through familiarity.

The prioritization of sex in modern dating means that often a lot of women will feel there's something "wrong" if the guy isn't being sexually aggressive enough. It's a sign of weakness or non commitment on the mans part. It's not really about falling in love.

You’re a hopeless romantic falling for a woman’s attention even though you really don’t know them at all.

They don’t fall for you since they are just getting to know you and as they get to know you they can understand they don’t really like you. That’s why they don’t catch feelings.

A man and woman can both fall for someone for sex or for romance. It just depends on whether or not all their needs are fulfilled.

If not, why waste time, just move on.

I haven’t dated after my divorce but it sounds like women today think men are only good for sex. Me Too said all these terrible things about how we were all rapist predators and women were like “if that’s how subhuman men are, I will just use them for sex.” That’s what it seems like. I’ve known women who think this way. I’ve dated some of them.

I have to have feelings for my partner before having sex, but women are not all the same. I haven't ever been someone who can have sex without the emotions already being there, so I would say no. But again, women are not a monolith. We are all different, so it may be the case for some idk.

I think these are just generalisations. I had the following experiences:

- woman fell for me on the very first date for whatever *spark* she felt (I was thinking of someone else the whole time on that date and was completely checked out)

- woman was into me and chasing me for months even though the sex was shit (I was super inexperienced and had premature ejaculation i.e. literally 5 second game)

- woman caught strong feelings for me only after dating for multiple months

Don't generalize on one or a few personal experiences on all women/relationships.

PS: I'm 5'8", plain average looking and kinda shy and introverted. So definitely was not the looks that did it.

While not necessary, it’s a major force multiplier. Sex is the glue that holds relationships together. Especially in 2024, you want to be sure you’re a guy that is either killer in the sack and/or your girl is viscerally attracted to you (which also means be in as good of shape as possible). There are going to be many times that sex/intimacy drop in a long term relationship due to factors kind of out of your control, so you want to mitigate that as much as possible.
