M soon to be 26 here. So here is what I don't understand. Yes online dating is fucking brutal for average guy. At first the app shows you good looking chicks and as time passes your rating goes down (ELO) and the algo pushes you wayy down and you are left with algo providing only ugly chicks, since most of the good looking ones swipe left on you. Even then if you do manage to get a match there will always be ghosting and all of that jazz.

However, what I don't understand is how is "live" game (be it day or night game) any different? You have to approach the girl and if she finds you unattractive she won't respond or will just reject you. How are your chances any different? You also have to pay for a drink or a table (if in the club). Also it's dark as fuck so you can't see very well and loud as fuck so you can't hear what she says and she can't hear you.

I'm asking this because I am debating with myself if I should go out on my own every Friday and Saturday (since most of the friends have GFs and aren't interested). I need to get out of the same old shit I'm doing 9-5 programming job, go to gym, watch yt videos and repeat. I don't if I should do it if my chances aren't going to be any better than with online dating (which is fucked up to the max tbh).
