After our shots we had to sit in a waiting area for about 20 minutes basically to see if anyone drops dead, anyway I was put next to a cute brunette in business clothes and since I was a bit light headed (I have a slight phobia of needles so they get me into a strange mind state) I just started spitting out what was on my mind and we had an unexpectedly interesting conversation so when our time was up I said something like 'so I know you were forced to sit here for 20 minutes but I quite enjoyed that chat, and life is short, would you be up for having a longer one over a coffee sometime?' and got her number.

Who know's if we'll meet but she seemed quite enthusiastic.

It reminded me that you can meet people anywhere.

And it reinforced something: when I have a reason to talk to someone - when there is some common experience or something to get things rolling I feel so much more at ease and in hindsight that's been where I've got most girls numbers - customers at work, another bystander when there's been an emergency or intense situation, I even dated for a few weeks a girl who accidentally drove her car into mine in the parking lot.

I just flail when there's no obvious common ground - the standard cold approach.

I guess I can either try to improve my mindset toward cold approaches (two sexual creatures who are probably attracted to each other is quite a lot to have in common) or I can try to capitalise on this discovery by volunteering more or meeting people in a more natural way.

What's your thoughts?
