You really think your message has good odds of even being seen given they've got "10k plus followers" with probably at least 200 of them spamming their inboxes? No chance those notifications are on, and equally no chance they go through their messages regularly (if ever). Girls sense a disparity in status on Instagram. Most dudes don't have the thousands of followers that girls do.

In person they'll likely sense the opposite, that you are in fact much higher status than her. Social media distorts peoples perception of their own self-worth.

I struggle with texting because I get busy with my family and I just don't have the same vibe with people I text as I do irl, I find it hard to come across as interesting because texting is so boring, you can't see or hear the person so it's not as engaging. However I'm much more talkative and I vibe better with people I see irl

Try not to use Instagram especially if they have a huge follower base, texting is better or ask their preference for messaging. Also they might not be big texters. I absolutely hate texting.

Instagram is not a great medium to begin with to talk to people.
The newer layout of Instagram means notifications (e.g. followers) are hidden away from the main page, and if she does not follow you, messages go to message requests. So even when she checks her DMs, there is a separate page (probably with 1000 bots and thirsty dudes) where your message would be. Because of this, even if she was interested, your odds of being seen and recognized are low. Besides that, she will likely feel “above” you on Instagram due to followers, pictures, all that sort of thing. It’s not a great medium for men to demonstrate tons of value unless they’re a hot travel guru with a professional photographer following them around

I'm actually going through the same thing. But on Facebook message. But we have a conversation for a hour or so. Then leaves me on read but when we meet in person there is chemistry and we read each other body language and are always cracking up jokes. I'm friends with her best friend which is one of my friends girl friends. And she helps me and gives me hints about the girl that I like. But it is weird and does give mixed feelings. Because I'm a truck driver and only home 4 to 5 days a month.

There’s a guy I met recently who was great irl. We had a nice convo on a flight and we exchanged socials. But when he messaged me on insta I immediately became annoyed because it felt like he was expecting more than I was willing to give. Having a good time with you doesn’t mean I owe you a relationship or attention. I think feeling like they should invest more time into you because you had a good time is actually self sabotage.

It’s not about their profile, it’s about whether they want to continue the connection. Don’t take it personally when they don’t, there are billions of people on earth. They aren’t bothered by this so why should you be? Carry on and move onto the next
