Insecurities? When I was younger I didn't realize when girls where flirting with me. So when they've made jokes on my behalf, I often didn't reciprocate making fun of them or having fun around them.

I think it's a pretty big epiphany for a lot of guys, when they realize, that all these girls were hitting on them. Along the lines of "OH SHIT! She was hitting on me back then! And this girl, and that girl and ... OH".

Just a little addition to "insecurities": I've got a pretty athletic physique but still was very self-conscious so only a few years ago I realized that girls where simply checking me out when they were looking at me. Until then I always thought they were looking at me because something was wrong. Sort of like high school.

So the baseline here is: It can work obviously because you're showing interest in a guy by flirting and by that you're doing your part of the courtship display.

If he understands this he can pick up on it. If he doesn't pick up on it, maybe it's the insecurities, maybe he's simply not interested in you. Just like you aren't interested in some guys and they could do whatever they wanted without making progress.

Negging totally works on men. I told the guy I'm seeing that back in highschool I remember him as being the only 'moderately attractive' guy in our class. I also always imply he's only sexy in contrast to what he used to be like. The key is that it's almost a compliment, but it's not.

Just want to point out though - what the guy said to you at the party was actually a false disqualifier :)

Someone posts at least once a week "it's not what you say, it's how you say it".

Early, non-physical game with teasing, eye contact, smiles, and more teasing should be well-met by any confident guy.

A few months ago, after I started coming out of AFC-dom, I started noticing when women were trying to open me, giving me shit-tests, etc.

If you want to seduce a man, you're going to need to open and give IOIs, he should be able to handle some of the rest. Meet him halfway.

I'm not sure it would work. A girl I used to know used to tease me about loads of stuff. I thought she was mean and it hurt my feelings, though I was quite insecure about myself at the time. Years later I found out she totally had the hots for me :/

tl;dr learning the game will help a woman, but not as much as going to the gym regularly, eating a healthy diet, and maybe getting a good makeover.

Here's the thing, think about how important a guys looks are to you (and women in general), and that's how important your "game" is to a guy.

Let me explain, one basic concept in the seduction community: survival value (essentially one's social power) and reproduction value (essentially one's physical attractiveness).

Men are valued by women for their survival value. This includes traits like a sense of humor, social awareness, social dominance, high status, etc. Survival value is essentially a man's social skills. His leadership abilities, his influence over others, and his ability to make decisions quickly and take action. So called "negs" convey survival value and social status because they essentially communicate that the man is willing to walk away from the interaction, thus he has many options and is confident in his ability to find a mate. All "game" that is taught here is essentially boosting a man's survival value. This is why it's so awesome to be a man because survival value is not a objective trait (neither is beauty, but lets be honest, an obese woman is not as attractive as a fit one).

Women are valued by men for their reproduction value, which is essentially how physically attractive they are. Most traits that men find attractive in women (waist to hip ratio, large breasts) involve child bearing and rearing. Other traits, such as large eyes, blonde hair, healthy skin, etc are related to youth, which is also an important factor in producing healthy children.

So, to apply the pareto principle (80/20 rule) 80% (or more) of a man's value is survival value, and 20% (or less) of a man's value is reproductive value. Also, 80% (or more) of a woman's value is reproductive value and 20% (or less) of a woman's value is survival value.

To start off, the plant thing was teasing, not negging. You wouldn't crack up at a properly delivered neg.

Teasing a guy is fine as it will come off as flirtatious. But proper negging is completely the wrong way to go when picking up a guy. In fact you should do the reverse and stroke his ego rather than seek to deflate it (which is essentially part of what a neg does).

Negging = teasing and yes it does work on you. It works on everybody. A very rare selection of girls don't like being teased by a guy they're interested in.

well besides physical escalation and actually touching the other guy, think about how you carry yourself. think about how a model looks when she's posing and such, and how she even walks around normally - how she's used to walking with confidence and poise "i know i'm sexy." now imagine her sitting like sad keanu, or clenching her fists and straining her neck like "come at me bro." not as hot anymore, right? there is something to be said for non-kino physicality.

if a girl like blushes or just gets mildly embarrassed, and looks down and lets her hair fall over her face a little, keeps her head down but tilts it to the side and looks back up with just her eyes... well, i keep my shit together but on the inside, i just want to take her right there.

as for verbal game keep it light, keep it fun, and yea if he negs you or something neg him back. remember negs aren't insults, they're a form of false disqualifier - a fake reason you would never work together, or a fake thing you would do to someone you're not really interested in.

if it's going well and you really really want to fuck a guy, give him a hand with the logistics, and don't be afraid to grab his hair and whisper something direct into his ear.

Negs work great on guys. Just like with girls (and you) though, guys won't admit it if you ask them. They'll picture her making fun of them and then they'll tell you that the only thing that works is how hot she is or something. Bull. I have had plenty of guys indicate to me that they got more interested because a girl seemed "feisty" or some shit like that. Negs are just an indicator that you want to play but that playing is exciting and you're going to have to stay on your toes.

Men have shockingly strong egos determined by opinion of self, while women tend to look outwardly for validation.

You neg a dude, and he'll just think you're a bitch because, though he fears rejection, his sense of self-worth is more internally defined. Society, unfortunately, conditions women to seek outward validation, even from the sort of complete jerk who would "neg" a woman for his own egotistical designs.

Some of the techniques have some crossover effectiveness, but the underlying emotional progression is different between men and women. You're better off checking out Arden Leigh and her forum, or Mimi Tanner's more 'Rules' oriented methods, for women.

This stuff absolutely works with guys. One of the biggest things that I've gained from pickup is that I can "pick up" guys too (with the goal of being friends with interesting people, not with the goal of sleeping with them).

You might be confusing the means and the ends of negging here.

The female form of negging is the shit test. It is the same thing in that it is a way of establishing a stronger frame of reality and state but different in that it acts as more of a filtering mechanism for women which is a completely different goal.

But if you want to know what builds attraction for men, the ends, the means are going to be different. That is to say a girl should play coy and drop hints for him to take the lead.

Also, I agree with the other comment that playing to his ego helps. As does playing to the 'protector' that's in every guy.

Honestly, I don't think this would work nearly as well on guys. Personally, if a woman did this to me I wouldn't take it in stride and just move on to the next lady. With that being said, some light-hearted banter is always good and fun.

I'm sure this somehow relates to the basic social standards that men pursue women, and not vice versa.
