i was drunk at a stripclub recently (friend's bachelor party) and i decided to amuse myself by telling the most BORING stories possible to the strippers who came up and tried to sell me dances, just to see how long they'd feign interest. they'd try to sexualize it and i'd just steer it right back to something painfully boring. i mostly forget what i droned on about, but my favorite snapshot from that night is trying to contain my laughter at the absurdity of this SUPER hot stripper standing there pretending to be interested in what my cat liked to watch on tv (she likes QVC and elliot stabler). one girl lasted a good ten minutes - smiling, laughing, asking questions. i really should've bought a dance from her... she earned it. no way i'd have that kinda patience.

If you just wanna get over AA, the easiest way is to make failure your goal. Try to get rejected as often and brutally as possible.

Then you realize in your bones that it is NOT THAT BAD, and you can start just start approaching for the heck of it.

You know this is the purpose for routines. Saying something interesting while you work on your body language, etc, finding what works and what doesn't.

Great stuff, thanks! But I feel like you were already over the worst of your AA. If you were initiating conversation with these women and then engaging them in conversation for 30-60 min, then it sounds like you were more or less just refining your conversation skills. What type of atmosphere were you in (bar/club?) and what was your initial approach tactic and openers (aside from the stock openers)?

What sort of things did you tell them, including and beyond the Warcraft addiction? I just always have a hard time talking about myself, partly because i dont think i'm that interesting, but beyond that it just isn't fun. instead I just let the other person talk or at least try to get them to talk. Not always successfully

I don't have AA, so I may be wrong here, but I would not give this advice to my friends who do suffer from AA.

Since you were not trying to seduce, you were trying to just have a small platonic entertaining interaction, doesn't this just shift the AA away to when you are trying to actually hook up with girls?

I have plenty of friends who have no problems going up and talking to girls and friendzoning themselves. But they still have AA if they are going up and talking to girls and trying to present themselves as a sexual object.

My advice to these people would be to go out and do this again! But next time don't leave the conversation you are in without escalating romantically or sexually in some way. Get a number or something, even if its just as friends (hot girl friends are great to have).

I feel like these non-results driven approaches just end up making guys dwell way too long in back-patting backwaters, when they still haven't actually accomplished any of their goals.

You're not offering any solutions. We're talking about AA here, not whether you have interesting storeis to tell. How can you "tell stories" if you still can't approach? For someone with AA, walking up to a girl is hell, not to mention starting to tell stories about themselves...

Your title is very misleading and doesn't help anyone with AA.

Thank you, this really helps. I've been looking for that first step for a while now and this might just be the ticket. It might be a while before I get to do that though because it's hard to balance going out every week and losing weight at the same time, but this definitely gives me something to work with.

This is counter intuitive, in my experience I've had better success cutting the BS, remaining mysterious and asking the girl questions about herself and only answering direct questions about myself with short concise answers. Girls dont want to hear your BS. They'll know you're full of yourself which is a turnoff.
