Hey all,

I tried looking around but could not see a post on this specific question, so I thought I would ask it. I am 25 year old male who, while not incredibly good looking, is frequently told that he is pretty attractive. This, of course, does not matter too much because I have very low self esteem and am incredibly shy. I am a super introvert at heart and get exhausted after being social too much.....Despite all these things, I have the same desire as most other men to get some sexual action and possibly feel the closeness of being in a relationship with someone who I really connect with.

I had one serious relationship in my life that was on and off for around 3 years. Another relationship after that which did not last too long (around 6 months) when I was around 20 years old. After these two relationships my love life pretty much evaporated and has been non existent for almost 5 years. In that time span I have gone on a handful of dates, had a single one night stand, and kissed one other girl.

I think the hardest thing for me to get past at this point in my life is the mental block/realization that I have been single for so long. I have seen friends get married, go through several other partners, etc. all in my last 5 years of being single. As much as I don't like to say it, it makes me feel like there is something fundamentally wrong with me. My family and friends always ask me if I am seeing someone, and I always reply the same way. It almost makes me feel embarrassed, to be honest. In fact, I believe some people would be more surprised if I was dating someone at this point because even they have become used to me being the guy who is always single.

So, have any others been in a similar situation? If so, how did you deal with the "Inner Game" aspect of this dilemma? I guess the worst part about it is the longer I stay single, the more I feel like something is wrong with myself. Forgive me if this question has been asked on this sub reddit before, but I could not find any other related posts. Thanks for reading!
