This one is more of an inquiry rather than a discussion, as I have heard about the discourse on modern dating many time.

For women, it goes like this: A lot of women are no longer feminine anymore, they wanna compete with men, they want to be men. They want argue, they don't want to build anything, they're more career driven than wanting to raise a family. Yet they still want a high value man that makes more than them when that man wants a traditional feminine woman who knows how to cook, clean, and be loyal.

For men, it goes like this: A lot of men today aren't real men. They're emotional, too egotistic, can't make decisions or take care of their homes. They want us to mother them like a baby. They have too much toxic masculinity, aren't in touch with their emotions, or if they are, aren't doing it in a way that still makes them manly. They're afraid of a strong independent woman and just wants an ultra submissive wife to control.

I hear this kind of narrative a lot in dating related vids and one key aspect I've been focused on is this "In the West." Whenever people talk about the west, they talk about men and women as if they're involved in some kind of gender war. But I'm wondering, what is considered the West in this context? Cuz most of the time I hear discourse on this, it's mostly from American/Canadian Youtubers which is not the only parts of the west, just countries of the North America continent. Geographically speaking, the West also includes European countries i.e Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, and Norway, etc, and dating culture seems to be very different there than it is in North America, at least imo.

Do you think this discussion is mostly talking about North America specifically, or does it really include most parts of the West including those European countries?
