Most girls at the gym are there to work out, not to be hit on.

You can introduce yourself, and if she shows an EXTREME amount of interest, then I guess you can talk to her and try to get her number.

But otherwise, don't do it.

I don't agree with the PUA "meet anybody anywhere at any cost" mentality. Sometimes you're just being an annoying dick.

I've actually been lucky enough to get girls numbers at the gym. Honestly, I don't recommend it, it's distasteful and the gym is to many a safe space.

I workout hard and I sweat a ton, so I'm one of the grossest people in the gym. But since I workout at the same time at the same place everyday, I'm a really familiar face.

One day upon checking into the gym, this girl who was right behind me who was also checking started making small talk. I told her she works out hard and she makes a comment about me being always sweaty. Haha, I know it's gross. We laugh, I ask her to join my routine and she agrees.

Wasn't mid workout, was at the check in desk. So it's more friendly and not invasive. Other great spots is the smoothie bar if your gym has one.

I work at a Physical Therapy office inside a gym. There are 2 hot chicks I always see who are there for the most part to be checked out. It's funny to find this question in here, i have been working out for 5 months now, and i had never approached any woman at the gym, let alone ask for numbers or something like that.

Just last saturday i talked to this girl who approached me, and we talked for a couple of minutes, afterwards i asked her if she wanted to go jogging sometimes (there is a big park 500 meters from our gym), she politely declined.

Don't approach women at the gym, do what you are there to do, workout.

This is a tricky one and it will have mixed opinions. Every guy wants a fit girl but where is the best place to find them? Of course it makes sense to approach them at the gym because that's where they all are.

Here is how and when you can do this. Most girls are "there to work out" (say they worked out). If you approach you have to tread very lightly and not be overt like in night game. No sexual undertones or anything. Most people will say only approach if she eyes you first. I agree with this for the most part. You don't want to be known as "that guy" at the gym hitting on every girl.

So here is how you do it. Ask her to spot you on something she is familiar with and comfortable doing. NOT BENCH, SQUAT, ETC. Something like leg lifts for abs. Really any abs workout is perfect. Habe her push your legs back down on each lift. Then just chat her up after. If she looks like she wants to go lift let her. Ask her to spot you again later and continue where you left off.

OP, the majority of top comments here seem to discourage approaching at the gym. I wholeheartedly disagree. It's the same as approaching anywhere else.

Anywhere you go, you're gonna find girls who don't want to be approached and will be offended that you even spoke to them. That's their problem, not yours.

It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. Do YOU think is rude/weird/inappropriate to speak to an attractive stranger at the gym? I don't. Why would it be?

Just use common sense and don't try to start up a conversation with someone who is in the middle of a tough workout. Wait until their break.

I agree with the other people that gym opening is for the most part a no go. Unless you catch her watching you a couple times, I would just let it go.

However if you have to absolutely do it, there is a couple ways you can try. If y'all are working out close to each other, you can always try to get a spot. If she is working on an unique piece of equipment or doing a not so common workout, you can try to ask her about it. But don't interrupt mid workout. Or if the gym is packed you can always ask to work in. I would make the opener 100% situational.

Depends the situation really. It is definitely possible. First if somebody is working hard just don't interrupt them. But if they are close to you or they seem like resting you can start a small chat. Read their expressions and if they don't seem interested or annoyed just let them alone. Are they making eye contact? Are they smiling back? Are they making questions? I also bring funny shirts and I always get girls talking to me about them.

Two weeks ago I saw a girl checking me out. I went to buy a drink and said hello to her. Got her number and we been talking since then.

I also got my first girlfriend in the gym. I saw a girl running on the track, I cold approached her and started racing her and challenging her. We finished and chatted for a while. Got her number and went to work out the next day with her. Not an hour passed by I was having sex with her. Act like a normal person and do what you want and feel.

Second time, I started racing another girl. Chatted a while and straight told her I thought she was hot and would like to fuck her. She gave me her number and the first Monday after spring break, she became my fwb. Don't recommend doing this all the times, but when the context is right.

In that situation, if you're feeling like it's awkward to ask for the number, it's because it is a little. You've got to develop a friendly relationship at the gym, at least a small good convo that landed well, before asking for it. And better to ask for it for a specific reason discussed in ur convo.

Unless you're legitimately interested in a workout or exercise she's doing, don't ask her about it. From what I see personally, women never talk to anyone at the gym, only the instructors. The women go in, workout and leave. Almost like they're in a mad rush to do so. So asking them about their workout I'd imagine would be like delaying that eventual exit hour which as I said, doesn't seem to be a thing they'd like.

Going direct and telling her she's hot or sexy or pretty or whatever. Unless she is extremely unremarkable appearance wise. It's retarded. She's wearing leggings and a tight top. Yeah no shit you think she looks hot.

There's not much room or context to socialize. Most people at the gym workout and whenever they're not or are just slogging away on cardio, they have their phone out.

Dudes tend to be far more social at the gym. I suppose if the gym were more dominated by women, then maybe that would flip the script. But my gym, or at least the times I go to, it tends to be limited. But I live in a very lackluster area and it's a small gym. Not to mention the fact that I tend to go at lunch hour which leaves the gym pretty empty a lot of the time and I really like that. Since it's so small, if you go at hot hours, you'll be sharing and I hate that.

If you want to be social. Be social with everyone. Say hi to everyone. But don't single out women. Single out dudes if anything, guys are much more social at the gym because I guess it's just a friendlier and more boisterous mindset we get there.

I look at it like this: you don't want to hit on every girl you see and you don't want to be considered annoying. That being said, if you see someone at the gym that you wouldn't see any where else then don't you think it's worth a shot? You don't know if/when/where you'd see her again so if you're really into someone and really think you can then go do it. Just don't be an annoying prick and interrupt her. Between sets or workouts or something like that.

Treat her like a dude. It's easy to make friends while working out. Just ask her to spot you. Almost nobody says no to this....it's just gym ettiquit. Then just strike up conversation about both of your work our routines like you would with any other guy. Don't ask for the number right away. After seeing her at the gym a few times more and being polite and conversative, ask her if she'd like to work out and get lunch with you after sometime.

Your best bet is to focus on yourself. Enter beast mode, listen to your headphones, and don't distract yourself by looking around or talking. I get alot of looks by guys and girls when I take my routine serious. When you go to the water fountain or walk to the locker room, walk slow, walk like you got a 9 inch cock and you own that gym. You'll notice people's eyes. Just try not to look like a douche bag who is pretending. I'm in pretty good shape, but I'm not nearly as big as some of the dudes in there. I wear hoodies every time. Make eye contact.. HOLD IT. Give the girl a sexy smirk like Ryan Gosling.. She'll probably smirk back.. But wait to talk to her until she's finished or stationary on a bicycle.. Don't bother her when she's lifting weights.

This works for me. I have met a shit ton of girls in the gym in the past few months since I joined..
