Okay you have proven that beauty bias exists. There are hot people with all these privileges and doing all this stuff you I can't. But this also means you and I ourselves have our own beauty biases. The best we can do is recognizing that bias and making the best of the level of privilege we have. The world is unfair and that is frustrating but lying down and playing the victim all the time isn't the answer.

Also you treat people as a monolith. If someone views you as creepy simply because of how you look then they aren't your friend and you shouldn't associate with them. Less attractive people have social circles all the time and express their personalities and confidence.

I think it depends on more factors than attraction. There’s really no way to know how someone is experiencing the world without getting to know them. In my experience, some of my female peers react to male gaze by calling someone creepy. Typically the women feel the need to be hyper vigilant around men that show interest for good reason. I think that one way to circumvent this problem is to try to befriend a woman before showing overt interest. If you’re approaching women with obvious signs of interest before rapport is built, it could definitely make some women feel uncomfortable. I also see situations where men are coming on strong but they aren’t giving the women enough space. This usually looks like clinging behavior, following her around a bar or club and monopolizing her in conversation.

False. I've had rich men do shit that sent a shiver up my spine. Everything in my body told me to stop interacting with them immediately.

I speak as a fine artist who has drawn quite a lot of people but it’s pretty hard to be repulsively ugly. Plus a lot of your appearance can be affected by things like posture and style. Things definitely within the realm of control.

Creepy is contextual and is usually from either disregarding the boundaries of the other people involved. Or a lack of social skills that gives the impression of disregard.

Sure first impressions matter. You’re more likely to notice a pretty girl over one you deem as not so pretty. More likely to pay attention to what she says and does.

The narrative can be switched to the other side. Good looking people in general get treated different it’s called the halo effect. But does it mean if you’re not drop dead gorgeous that you can’t live a good life? No.

Go outside and touch some grass you will see the happiest people that are in healthy relationships aren’t super models.

You want a pity party throw one. You want a good life? Go live one. It’s honestly that simple.

Some men seem to have this fantasy that other men are allowed to be total shitbags to women because they’re hot or rich or whatever, for the expressed purpose of getting mad at women (and sometimes other men but mostly women), even though those things don’t actually happen in real life.
A lot of people do this in some way or another, but we’re not talking about them right now.

I’ve seen this claim resurface every few years, but have never seen it in practice, nor have I ever been given real proof that this is a realistic interpretation of events.
Yes, the halo effect and pretty privilege are things that exist, but the benefits are limited and not everyone experiences it the same way. It’s not some universal force that protects hot people from consequences, it may just make some people superficially trust or like you more. Hot guys aren’t constantly getting away with calling women “sugartits” and women aren’t tazing unattractive men who compliment their new hat.

From my own observations, this claim is usually rolled out by incels and the terminally online, people completely obsessed with their own perceived ugliness, to blame women for the fact that their lack of social skills and poor mental health leads them to act in ways that make other people uncomfortable. Not to mention their confirmation bias and tendency to label any alternative perspective as “gaslighting” means that they’re completely oblivious to examples that may contradict their perception.
And because they believe that only ugly men get called creepy, this reinforces their certainty that they are ugly and that is the cause of all their woes, and thus the doom spiral meanders ever downwards into the bowels of Internet Hell.

In short, yeah nah.

You're just repeating a story that you read from other incels, who read it from other incels, who read it from other incels. This is what they call being "terminally online".

I know people I personally find ugly IRL, who don't appear creepy at all and have never been accused of that. People IRL don't randomly call other people "creepy". Incels do that to each other online though.

I used to work in bars and restaurants and I've known some pretty fugly people who still made fuckloads of money in tips and got laid quite a lot. In hindsight, it was either because they have great personalities and charisma or because they're kind of manipulative and predatory.

I agree that very handsome men probably can push the boat out a little bit further and be a bit more cocky / forward with their behaviour. But most men are not very handsome. They are ordinary and yet don’t get referred to as creepy.

I am going to jump on the comments bandwagon and say that I also think a lot of it is down to behaviour and boundaries rather than looks.

I also don’t think people are fine with women making comments about mens looks. As long as it’s respectful, yes. But I would still think it’s inappropriate if it becomes too personal or mean, or happens somewhere like the workplace.

Try not to obsess too much over what very handsome men can “occasionally” get away with . Instead, remember most men are ordinary and do not have any unique ability to freely comment on women’s looks without it looking bad on them (same is true for women). Perhaps think more about behaviour and boundaries. And steer clear of comments that you think may run the risk of being inappropriate.

I hear this argument all the time from men justifying how women are shallow and selfish, as if men don't do the EXACT SAME THING. Ask a random person on the street about the time they saw a man put up with unquestionable abuse because a girl was hot, they'll usually have a few stories.

Some folks are shallow. Man or woman, doesn't matter. Someone being cruel to you because of your appearance has nothing to do with you and everything to with what an awful person they are. Someone being awful to you right out the gate is doing you a favor, showing you why you shouldn't be wasting time on them to begin with.

Lookism is a thing in capitalist societies in general it is far reaching beyond gender lines just manifesting differently. So it is important to not make generalizations here. What you see in the media or online is not real it is a fictionalized hyper reality. A subtle pressure put on you to sell you fixes for profit. That is why lookism exists to discriminate against ppl to encurage these fixes to actually be needed. U can see that pretty well when you look at how beauty trends have shifted from history like stick thin to plump to curvy and such. Beauty is a made up concept by our society. And sadly many ppl are blind to that reality. But you can‘t generalize people cause in reality not everyone thinks the same.

I don’t see why you’re comparing women making comments about men and unattractive men making comments about women. Regardless of whether or not anyone should be “saying shit” about other peoples’ appearances, isn’t the logical comparison between unattractive men and attractive men?
Is it perhaps because women don’t like any men saying shit about their appearances and tend to call them out regardless of how they look? But that wouldn’t make “unattractive men” the hapless victims of a Society We Live In.
