But i thought blocking men from the museum "is the art". So its not really a toilet but a museum pretending to be a toilet in order to skirt the law. A court should be able to see its still a museum underneath so should be illegal.

So.. what i'm hearing is that they are acting in contempt of the court order by trying to claim this special ladies only area is now a woman's bathroom and because of that men can't come in...

Also its ironic that they claim this to be a ladies area.. yet they have works by many MALE artists in this area...

The simple answer here is, if you want to actively discriminate against men, then charge men less..
If men are only able to see 80% of the art on display, they should only pay 80% of the price of admission...

But i'm sure in their minds they believe that not only should men be supportive of their decision to discriminate against them..
But i'm sure they would be happy trying to justify men having to pay more than women to view the museum.. just like that feminist cafe did which eventually went out of business..

If you want to highlight discrimination one group has suffered, the way to do that is NOT discriminating another group back..
Because all that does is start an endless cycle of "Well women were discriminated against so now we're discriminating against men!" followed by men saying "We were discriminated against by women, so we are justified in discriminating against women!" etc..

How is closing a door to half a population creating an "equal opportunity" ?

So it has nothing to do with equality, when you're not exclusively showing women's works (again not sure why that wouldn't mean you want men to also appreciate them!?), but here you're showing/appropriating MEN'S works, then excluding MEN from viewing their own gender's works ??

Honestly it's a weird one.

When I look at the MONA website there's no drabbled about feminism blah blah blah. Just ladies only eventing, which I don't think is bad. Supposedly there's some picasso artworks installed due to him attending such parties before (says in the description that he attended the curators grand mothers parties or something, idk how true though), which actually kinda defeats any feminist driven purpose given the history of picasso, not something to have tea over at least.

Kinda sucks to withhold the art like that, wouldn't mind if it swapped in and out, like museums frequently do.

But it would be nice for a male only as well implemented (and a lot more fair), I actually think that the larger picture of both is a bit more artsy driven. .

But from the website it doesn't look like men will be missing out on much to be honest. I think that the mass amount of ladies spaces and lesser male spaces is the general reason why we don't like it. But had we have equal that, the reasons for it are quite tame, although that's just my opinion.

When I first read it, it gave the impression of withholding a few exhibits or something, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
