How do you get 17 years when dna and the person who was raped don't suggest the guy who got jailed? And am I right in that because he said he didn't do it even when convicted he got note jail time?

The Crown Prosecution Service were aware of this by December 2009 and advised against further examination of the evidence. They sat on potentially exonerating evidence for over a decade. His minimum sentence was 6.5 years, but they kept him in prison because he maintained his innocence.

The real problem here is how they simply expect him to slip back into society as though nothing had happened..
Where is the compensation for his false imprisonment?

He deserves millions of dollars in damages from the justice system so that he can re-build his life..
But of course, aside from them saying "We got it wrong" they don't expect to have to pay up for getting it wrong.

The law in the UK needs major reform when it comes to the definition of rape and those falsely accused of it.

For starters, section 1 of Sexual Offences Act 2003 states it can only happen by a man and carries a life sentence. A woman can only be an accomplice and not the perpetrator, and this carries lesser harsh sentencing. A woman rapist would only be a sexual assaulter which carries a less jail term than rapist and is no more than ten years.

As to false accusations, there needs to be a law that makes this a criminal offence if it was done with malice that carries the same term of imprisonment for the crime the accuser made. I don't know in this case if the victim maliciously accused him but I am seeing so many news reports of false allegations of rape being made against men and its alarming.

This woman should feel guilty for thinking the worst of her brother due entirely to her disgusting sexist beliefs about men and boys.

There are very many women who think their sexist attitudes and misandry are justified and above the law. These women believe they are completely justified in treating men and boys as subhuman brutes, and that their lack of respect for the minimum of human rights for men is somehow virtuous and brave.

These women, like the one above who doesn't trust her own friends and brothers on the basis of the birth sex alone, are the worst misandrists of all. Their misandry is so pervasive, so extreme, so entrenched in their psychy, they are incapable of understanding the depth of their dysfunctional prejudice. They don't understand, and when challenged, don't care that they behaving like sexist pigs.

I think this is more about her just being shitty person. There was no DNA evidence, he didn't look like the attacker yet somehow ended up in Jail. She was worried what people might think of her so disowns him then agrees to a book deal.

Happens all the time but even then I don't think I could trust my own friends or brothers if they are convicted you never know if someone is a rapist untill they do the thing ya know. I can't blame the sister that much, some people are incapable of it so ofc those people I would trust but most rapist are just normal people.

That woman is complaining because she was lied to by criminal justice system.

She was not a lawyer, and she had no way of knowing the court process was botched, and her brother was innocent.

It wasn't family disowning somebody at accusation, this was apparently a court process, and she was oblivious that the government even then was becoming more and more misandristic.
