I’ll start off by saying, I hated being married. I hated being tied down and the loss of freedom that came with having my life fully intertwined with someone else’s. I just got married because I felt like it was what society told me to do, and that I would never do better. I am happier living on my own in an apartment while having my kids every other weekend. On the other hand, I’m a serial dater and don’t know how to be single and happy. My self-worth has always been fully wrapped up in how others view and perceive me. Compulsively almost, I find myself on dating apps desperately seeking the approval and acceptance of women. I require constant external validation and need it from women. I didn’t get it from my ex, which was a big reason why I left her and we ended up getting divorced. I can’t stand being in a relationship and being emotionally intimate with others, but I also can’t stand being alone.

I realize I am a head case. I am over a year post-separation and almost 2 months post-divorce. What advice do y’all have for being alone with yourselves? I have no particular hobbies, nothing really interests me anymore. Do I just need lots of therapy and should I not even be dating right now? Sorry for the word vomit, I just have nowhere else to go with this. Thanks.
