Like many others here have said it’s the exact opposite for me. Can never imagine loving another woman the way I love my 2nd wife. We came into each others lives at the right time and with so many ways that we “fit” that I have to believe it was more than just coincidence. Like two pieces of the same broken puzzle.

I waited a long time to heal and did a lot of therapy after my divorce so I knew I was in the right place to be receptive to dating and possibly more. My wife did the same.

When I think about my ex wife and the miserable life I had with her, I can’t imagine ever going back to that way of living again and honestly wonder if I ever really loved her in a healthy way.

It honestly sounds like you are not in a healthy place to be marrying anyone, let alone contemplating getting married again. My advice would be to take more time working on yourself and healing before running the risk of repeating the same mistakes from your past.

If you take the time to do some self relection on what went wrong in the first marriage and work to fix the issues you brought to the relationship, the next marriage might be better. Learn from the first one and apply that knowledge to future relationships.

My second marriage, we are much more aligned than I was in my first.

Was married for 5 years to the wrong woman, been married now 3 years to the right one and I will die by her side. Love of my life and we share 2 beautiful kids together and always work as a team.

Although I am not legally married, I’ve been living with someone new for the past 4 years.

I don’t regret leaving my first marriage at all. Not for one minute. The best thing that came out of that marriage was three amazing kids. I do regret, however, that we had to sell the family home—the only home my kids had ever known.

I had a significant amount of money come my way after that. And while I absolutely love my new partner, after everything I went through with my first divorce, I can’t help but feel more cautious about finances.

The money I received from my first marriage, I keep separate, and even if we do get married down the line, it will not be considered community property. I’ve put it in a trust.

Though I want to build a future with my new partner, it’s also hard because part of me feels the need to protect those assets for my kids. I got burned during my first divorce, and unfortunately, the person who’s paying the price for that is my new partner.

So, to answer the question, yes—I do love my new partner just as much as I loved my ex at one point. But my new partner won’t get the version of me that jumps into things without thinking of the consequences.
