In Canada we just e-transfer to the other (at this point I've moved.up to shared and we both pay each other for purposes of claiming a dependent with her amount being much lower). I keep all the emails in a folder just in case. There is the option of an enforcement agency, but generally only used if there are problems and I think there is a minor cost for the service.

I had no option. It just immediately started coming out of my check. Perhaps its a state based thing? Because of child support (which is reasonable) and APL (alimony pendente lite, not fucking reasonable whatsoever), I now bring home less than my employee's employees.

I’ve opted to pay all of my sons shared costs, phone, sports teams, school lunches, etc 100% and should end up m not giving her a dime. She is so bad with money I’m afraid of i gave it to her it would just disappear and i would end up paying those things anyway. My lawyer was all for writing this into the papers as my CS plan. Now- that said, still waiting on a judge as the case keeps getting continued four one reason or another.

If your lawyer isn’t working for your interests, fire her. I’m sorry to say this but your lawyer should absolutely work for you. They should provide you advice based on what they think is best for your situation but ultimately it is your decision to make and you instruct them on what to do.

You should never agree to income withholding. In case you get a higher paying job, your ex will automatically know

I was income withholding. Just got to stop paying a month and a half ago.

My question is why wouldn’t you want income withholding? It’s simple. You don’t have to do anything to get the ex the money. And child protective services will only have themselves to blame when they inevitably mess up…. And they will mess up.

My favorite was when I was refinancing my mortgage to get exes name off of it. They kept telling me I wasn’t paying enough. After three days of going round and round i get a manager on the phone. We are yelling at each other before I switch arguments… I said you guys say I’m paying the wrong amount right? Him yes. I said well since you are responsible for making the request and deducting money out of my account how’d YOU screw up and how will YOU fix it? End of any discussion right there and things finally got done on their end.

Believe me you don’t want any part in the process if you don’t have to take part.

I wouldn't do income withholding, what if you change jobs, what if HR screws up one month and gives her double - or nothing at all.

Lots of guys do it but I wouldn't and won't
