Most men are heavily manipulated in their relationships with women in different ways. And they get used for resources and status, among other things, while women give relatively little in return. This is why they generally expect men to pay on dates, and some even feel entitled to men paying. And if they don't pay, women generally lose whatever little interest they had in them.

The craziest part is that men have been conditioned to find meaning and happiness in being used and manipulated. So many of them don't even mind it, and some even think part of being a man is providing for women and paying for dates and so on. Some even feel like less of a man if a woman insists on paying for herself.
