Their philosophy is based around looks mattering more than anything.

If someone told them that attraction goes deeper than looks, they simply wouldn't believe it or say looks are the essential parts.

Lookmaxxers were told a lie growing up: That "looks doesn't matter".

When they eventually figure out they were lied to, the pendulum of their worldview swings to the complete opposite extreme end, which is "looks is the only thing that matters".

This knee-jerk reaction and the pendulum swinging "too far the other way" is quite normal, especially among teenagers, and especially among those that are already extremely distressed because they don't have success with women. As people get older (more mature), and most of them get some success with women, their worldview typically becomes a lot more balanced and nuanced. You don't see many looksmaxxers in their 30s. Most of them are 21 or younger.

Because looks are seen as an uncontrollable factor (women only sleep with Gigachads), they build a narrative where only the top 5% of men ever had a chance to begin with. a worldview that conveniently absolves them of any agency while preserving a victim identity.

Because looks do indeed matter more than people want to admit to when it comes to dating. That’s not to say the other things (personality and attitude) don’t matter, they do. But looks are the thing that matters the most. If a woman already finds you unattractive from the get go, the door to dating her will already be closed and things like personality and attitude isn’t gonna make her want to open it. For some men like me, women’s doors are already closed way before we ever get to them and whenever we tried knocking, nobody answers.

Women would smash a guy who looks good but lacks sex appeal for a hookup but never someone who looks bad but has sex appeal. Also in general Good looks is a requirement for sex appeal. Good looks gets you in the door so the women can learn about your sex appeal. If you can’t even get your foot in the door with bad looks, nothing matters.

Because it's easy to show effectiveness while also being a goal that a lot of their fans can't attain which makes them stay as losers. It's like their whole constant talk about money when their fans are broke.

That said, lets not forget, these guys are talking about appealing to women 18-25, where yeah, young women tend to go to very superficial features on a man to find them sexually attractive. I remember I had this one coworker who always wore blue contacts when going on even though he was a dark Mexican. Why? Because young women would just stop in their tracks at this blue eyed dark Mexican since it was so different and it was an immediate in for him.

The problem with the looksmaxxers and the black pill are the problem that most guys have with seduction, which is this: Becoming attractive to women is very, very hard because it requires a man to live a fun, healthy life and be intelligent, emotionally stable, interesting, worldly, and have confidence, social skills, and so forth. They may stand out a nightclub and get girls to go home with them, but the girls will eventually get bored.
