A woman's SMV and her looks are not at all the same, I don't know why you make the assumption that when people rate a female's looks, they also believe that's her SMV.

A 5/10 woman is a 5/10 woman, her SMV doesn't change that.

A 5/10 woman has the immediate options of a 9/10 man. Sure, most of those guys are only looking for a hookup or one-night stand - but they are there nonetheless & in her attention circle (always setting off notifications in her smartphone) so you're still competing with them indirectly.

I think the fact that straight men are often profoundly bad at gauging what straight women find attractive may have something to do with it. I've seen attractive guys mocked on here by the so-called Lords Of Male Attractiveness, and gross-looking dudes called Ideal Chads.

(to be fair, I've got a touch of that issue myself, the other way--I've seen who my male friends have turned down in favor of whom, and it bewildered me)

If you assert that women ARE superior to their looksmatch and therefore every woman should go from 5-15 smv instead of 1-10, then you are just conceding the argument to their other side and basically admitting that they are right. The only potential difference is you probably think womans opinion is justified.

I think what fucks up with the ratings stuff is they are rating two separate things and trying to make one figure reflect it. They are rating how impressed other men will will be if they fuck her, and how much she's triggering the "put sperm in fertile woman to make baby" instinct in them. Complicating the matter, it isn't like getting a boner only reflects the second of those two things that are being rated, impressing people and attaining a victory and anticpation of such are things that actually interact with a man's sex hormone levels.

And that's how Gwyneth Paltrow can be a solid 8 even though she's reproductively senescent. People are going to be impressed if you manage to bone her, "that time I fucked gwynnie" is drunken boasting fodder to last you at least another decade. Heck, convince Queen Elizabeth to let you stick your dick in her and there will be a whole bunch of impressed people, Queen Elizabeth is not the 1/10 her age and inability to reproduce would tend to indicate. Given a choice between "you fuck Queen Elizabeth one time and the whole world knows it" or "you fuck an obese ugly crack whore with three kids one time and the whole world knows it" there's a whole bunch of guys who would stand up and salute the queen despite the fact the crack whore is more likely to make a baby.

It is complicated and it is not just about looks no matter how much some guys would have us believe.

I've always thought of a man's number in the SMP (as men are the chasers) as being defined by the hottest woman he can get. If he's only able to pull a 5, then he's a 5.

Similarly, a woman's RMV is defined by the RMV of the best man she can get a relationship out of.

The number scale I use approximates closeness or distance from ideal ratios for each sex with 5 being "plain" for women and somewhat neuter for men

The thing is, when men talk to you about "looksmatch" they don't look at relative SMP, they look at what's the average in each gender and expect them to go together according to where they are from the average. It's because you don't understand how it works.We rate their looks ,not what kind of guys they are able to get.A 5 is a woman that isn't ugly but isnt pretty/cute .The fact that she could get a 9 doesn't change that fact.Heres a nice chart that explains the rating scale
