I honestly think it will affect it but not in the intended way.

First of all, a lot of so-called feminist men have already been revealed to be harassers themselves. These men were probably not even aware they did it and won't change.

Then we have the average guys who don't really pick a side. They realise it's a problem but are turned off by the rabid double standards and nuance-less nature of the movement and will just generally just start keeping women at an arms length.

Then we have the trash men who needed to hear this but don't give a shit. They won't change their behavior.

So all in all, the people who are the ones who needed to hear it either don't think they are a problem or don't care. And the guys who are innocent feels falsely accused and targeted and respond in the only way they can, by alienating women.

From the tea consent video I hear more young people say "Dude, she doesn't want tea," "Unconscious people don't want tea, bro," and "Yeah, you made the tea but that doesn't mean she's obligated to drink it."

So personally, I think the Tea phrasing will win out amongst the cool kids.

This will hurt women in the workplace wayyyy more than help. I have absolutely no intention of hiring an Attractive women in anything more than a management role

I'm already seeing it in consulting and professional work. Men don't want to be alone with women. No more closed door meetings. No more 1 on 1 meetings. No more closed conference rooms. Women are invited less to social settings. Men are voluntarily segregating themselves with the unspoken idea of "too much risk". I see quality men (executives) simply walking out of social settings when the young single women show up.

This has completely backfired and screwed very capable, intelligent women who want a career and wouldn't falsely accuse a man. Men can't risk being #metoo'd, so they're extracting themselves from ANY situation that could result in an accusation. And this will negatively impact women.

From what I have seen at work absolutely nothing. I live in the south where men express benign isms all the time. I still get honey/dear/sweetie all the time from men and I still say sir and ma'am if I do not know somebody well or if they are high on the food chain. So nothing.

At its best, it may serve as a check on rich and powerful men. Shit rolls downhill, though - so its impact, sadly, may fall upon marginalized men disproportionately.

Metoo is Harvey Weinstein to them and that's all they know about it.

It will only make the few guys who were already afraid of women even more afraid. Won't have any effect on normal people and it certainly won't have any effect on harassers, they already don't give a shit.

It will cause companies to write even more draconian HR rules that limit male and female interaction to a stupidly robotic level.

It will also expend a certain portion woman's store of goodwill as a class.

I think there has been a big effect already from #metoo. But not the intended one. Right now I'm actually not sure what the intention was.

The original purpose of "Me Too" as used by Tarana Burke in 2006, was to empower women through empathy, especially young and vulnerable women. In October 2017, Alyssa Milano encouraged using the phrase as a hashtag to help reveal the extent of problems with sexual harassment and assault by showing how many people have experienced these events themselves.[22][25]

After millions of people started using the phrase, and it spread to dozens of other languages, the purpose changed and expanded, as a result, it has come to mean different things to different people. Tarana Burke accepts the title of the leader and creator of the movement but has stated she considers herself a worker of something much bigger. Burke has stated that this movement has grown to include both men and women of all colors and ages, as it continues to support marginalized people in marginalized communities.[26][27] There have also been movements by men aimed at changing the culture through personal reflection and future action, including #IDidThat, #IHave, and #IWill.[28]

Oh so it was not used for original intent, was co-opted by mulitple groups and now has no concrete meaning; not dissimilar to feminism

So far I think #metoo has been a net negative for women since they have effectively cut themselves off from smart and careful men that they could have potentially learned from; but perhaps I just haven't seen the positives yet

I think the thing that will stay in people's minds is that money and power are not a perfect shield you can always count on forever. It probably won't have a profound lasting affect on most interactions, but it's a cautionary tale for would-be predators.

I think a lot will take note that in a lot of instances women gladly traded sex for career advancement, influence or status bleeding onto them in some manner. It's as Trump said. A lot want the message to be that these things happen under duress, but I doubt that message will win through. Clearly much of it happens willingly and voluntarily, but afterwards it is clever and cunning to state otherwise. If I were in a gangbang with 5 guys wives then I'd probably stick to I got raped as the official story.

It will do women a huge disservice in the long run as more and more men see other men's lives being ruined over unsubstantiated allegations by random women who are trying to either get attention, revenge, or prove that they aren't sluts. Many men will either stop associating with women unless there witnesses and recording equipment present because all it takes is one unsubstantiated accusation and their career is over (see Chris Hardwick). It's becoming enough of a problem that Cheryl Sandberg of Facebook is trying and failing to get hashtag MentorHer traction due to men not wanting to risk it all to professional mentor women for fear of false allegations destroying their careers and ruining their lives. More and more men will follow the Mike Pence rule, become MGTOW, or just secretly record all their interactions with women. Claims of rape will be met with increasing skepticism which will be terrible for actual rape victims. They can shout "LISTEN AND BELIEVE!" all they want but that cannot change what men are seeing happen to other men because of false accusations that all too often are going unpunished.

I think the men that are worried are simply unsure whether or not they did something fucked up in the past (they probably did) and unsure whether they will do in the future.

It’s raised awareness and put the probably guilty on high alert.

I always behaved professionally around female co-workers to begin with. Only difference is that now i try to avoid them altogether unless i have to.

I've also given up trying to be successful. I climbed the ladder pretty quickly at first, then started turning down promotions. After i saw how management has to deal with bitchy women all the time i want nothing to do with it

Men will just go back to separate social and professional spheres again, to insulate themselves from accusations.
