I work at a grocery-store and at a bulk-foods store, and I notice that the ratio of irritating old ladies to shockingly old men is like 10:1 (being generous to the old ladies).

1: Do you think that old women tend to be more irritating and to be less fun/pleasant than old men?

2: If so, what might explain this discrepancy?

(I was thinking that it might have something to do with the way in which The Wall hits women harder than it hits men. One woman on Reddit wrote about how she used to get amazing treatment because she was hot and then she lost her looks, experience non-special treatment, and she came to realize that all along she had been mistaken about the way the world works and people's inherent niceness; that must be unpleasant to come to terms with, but I can't imagine how someone would get so venomous and bitter about it...some of the old ladies I deal with have a pickle up their butt.)

3: Is it better to be an old man or an old woman, and why?

Note: These topics seem extremely un-PC in our society; my sister and step-mom thought that it was off-base for me to even raise the possibility that old ladies might tend to be more irritating than old men. My sister suggested that both are equally annoying, but it's the old ladies who tend to do the shopping, and I doubt that that's explanation, although it's certainly possible that that's the reason.
