Why is passing on your genes important to you? Not trying to be snarky, just want to hear the reasoning.

I guess i’m kind of weird, because i legit have zero desire to pass my genes on. Like, it doesn’t even concern me one bit. I’m more hedonistic though, and extremely selfish. I just want to have fun in my life and then when I die eveything will be shrouded in darkness anyway. I won’t see where my genetics go so whats the point?

The drive for sex is like the drive for chocolate or a great steak. Purely for the dopamine and can be replaced with any other pleasure giving activity.

The nearest thing you can replace the drive to procreate with is like, getting a dog. They exist similarly but are differnt things. One is pleasure seeking, and the other is biological imperative.

True. A 30 year old virgin who gets married to some woman and has 10 kids is way more of an evolutionary success than a playboy who boinks 1000 girls yet only has 2 illegitimate children. Plus the kids are probably raised better too in most cases. But to have 10 kids you'd need to live in a very small town that's inexpensive. Living in Manhattan and doing that? Nuh uh unless you're like Donald Trump.

5 kids is a financial death sentence for any of us in the lower 80% of wage earners. Flat out, they are a horrible investment if you do not have a stay at home parent to raise them in a middle class neighborhood.

Not saying the odds are horrible, I'm saying they are stacked against you, especially if you choose to have many children. You better be financially winning or they will drag you down into wage slavery or worse.

I guess that, evolutionary speaking, there are two kinds of Chads: 1) Alpha Casanova who tried to sow his seeds wide and wild by having tons of sexual relations - aiming to have children raised by other men; 2) the Alpha who tries to control his harem of women and prevent them from having sexual liaisons with anybody other than himself. And do provide ressources for their children's upbringing.

Beta knows he can't do either of those, so he tries to control one woman and provide the children with ressources. Putting all his eggs into one basket. So much the worse, when two of his five kids turn out to be wild oats sowed by Casanova. But we can prevent than unfortunate scenario by making paternity tests deeply suspicious, and otherwise tell men to man-up.
