I was always looking for “the one” even in college. I never saw any benefit to trying to have sex with a lot of women and I still don’t. It comes across as hedonistic immaturity to me, but one person’s hedonistic immaturity is another person’s harmless fun. But to me, it’s more fun being in love with someone than having sex with random people.

I have 2 friends who got a 2nd degree just because they didnt want to go out into the work world yet and they came from families that were very well off, if I had the option to do that I would do the same thing. It doesnt seem shocking to me at all, its just uncommon because most people cant do it

I think you most likely have a fairly biased view of that friend of friend just based on the way you worded your post. I mena if the guys got a phd or is close than im not sure that I would say he has "dedicated" his youth to getting laid, at least no more than anyone else

I mean what do you think he should be using his free time towards and why it would be so important by comparison? Most people would just fill that void with video games or netflix

"popular"/"well socially adjusted" people form high school just get married in their mid/late 20s/early 30s and have kids. I would agree with this.

I don't think repeated exposure to life altering risk (STI, pregnancy, rape accusation, feelz) is a good method to work out insecurity and neurosis.

There are easier, less risky ways of getting over your own shit.

I tend to think people who use sex as the panacea for their ego problems will never actually solve those problems, and will eventually add more problems to their lives with statistical fallout of stupid risky behavior.

The insecure fuccboi's I knew in my 20's are now miserable baby daddies in their 30's who will eventually lose custody to that BPD bitch they knocked up and then descend into fuccboi alcoholism in their 40's. Rinse and repeat until they die of congestive heart failure and/or cirrhosis when they're 65 (still dumb as fuck and insecure as they wither away in a hospital all alone).

My social circle in grad school was mostly male. I don't think there were any "fucbois" (god i'm old-- wtf is this word?) in the bunch-- I hung out mostly with very intelligent young men who varied in terms of looks and spergitude. Some got laid (a lot) but most didn't really seem interested in the party/sport-fucking lifestyle.

2) Is there any benefit to being a fucboi?

Sure. Sex for sport, meeting new women and banging them, living relatively free of responsibility (I personally miss the freedom to be able to spend 3 hours a day in the gym in grad school) are great fun. It certainly postpones "adulthood", and while I think embracing responsibility ultimately yields a more fulfilling life, I can absolutely see why a person would want to extend their "adolescence" as much as possible. This holds true even more so for men, who aren't having to strike such a precarious balance between youthful fun and declining fertility.

I guess there's also the benefit of knowing for sure that you're ready to settle down when the time comes (and knowing a quality woman when you meet one), because you're not wondering about all of the mysterious pussy you never got when you were younger, and you're probably less mystified by female behavior.

i think your buddys story is more of a thinly veiled brag the way it's being framed in such an oversimplified way , theres probably a lot more to extending his program, he probably gets grant money out of it for one thing, hes just framing it to you in a way that makes him sound "cool", if he put it to you like "i want to hold off on getting a real job so i can pick up some easy grant money" it comes off being kind of lame

As far as dedicating one's time to sex, I kinda get it. I mean, life is the grind, and then the free time in between where you're looking to live and have experiences, or simply just do things that aren't boring. I've reached the point in my life where a lot of things have gotten old, but sex and women never seem to. I mean, if I had to choose between watching a TV program (eh), doing some sort of outside activity (meh), internet-ing (relaxing, but not fun), looking at porn (hmm, pretty good), or having an attractive girl here right now to have sexy fun times with (fuck yes!), one stands out far above the others.

This is how I always felt when hanging out with female friends when I was young. It's not that talking and laughing and playing board games and whatever else was horrible, it's just that going to the bedroom with all of them sounded about 20x better.

Yea, this is like me and all of my friends from engineering school right now. We all were awkward virgin nerds in school and have kind of learned not to be awkward nerds the past few years. That along with some seriously sick status/money compared to other mid-20s guys and it's a whole new world in the SMP..

..And every single one of us try to use our newfound fuking powers to try to cure our deep seated insecurities that will probably never go away. I know that I spend way too much time thinking about my own sexual persona, and depending on how celibate ive been recently, can feel on top of the world because of sex or I can also feel incredible self loathing because of sex

when i think of my guy friends who are horndogs obsessed with getting laid all the time, they're usually not all that happy even when they're getting laid. i think because they have no end goal. there's no point that they reach and its like "ok, im good", there's always going to be some new girl they want to bone and they have to try to bone with all the associated drama that comes with it. a rejection from one girl can leave them miserable even when they're boning multiple other girls.

Anyway...

Improving social skills doesn't have to happen while "trying to get laid." Go to parties and talk to people. That's what I did long before I even knew that "PUA" was and I had a FWB is high school, and various "hook ups" in my early college years.

When I dabbled in PUA for a while I found forcing myself to go out with the sole intention of hitting on girls to be extremely inauthentic and just plain no-fun. It essentially took the fun out of "going out." The PUA techniques themselves did nothing to my ability to attract women - I'd almost argue they were counter-productive, and I was already filtering out the obviously retarded suggestions.

If you want to improve your social skills, find a group of friends you like and hang out with them. Watch how the most liked people of the group behave. Try to to understand why they do what they do.

Yeah, I had huge insecurities with women when I grew up and it really bothered me. I became obsessed with "Getting this area of my life handled" and started doing PUA and lots of self development.

2) Is there any benefit to being a fucboi? I sorta had the same experience in college. Mark Mason (the self help author) used to be a PUA coach and on his old blog he had a post about the benefits for getting into the game. Basically it can vastly improves social skills and you end up confronting mental hangups/monkeys on your back that you would have a lifetime to deal with it not even knowing of them.

When you grow up thinking most women don't find you attractive (like I did) and being really bothered by this, having sex with new partners gradually open you up to the idea that many women are indeed sexually attracted to you.

Intense focus on getting laid also means that I've become very good at recognizing when a woman is interested.
