Who will have more sex: women with many men to choose from ("women's paradise") or those with few ("men's paradise")?

I agree with this. Where I live it's necessary to have sex if you ever hope to find love and have some kind of normal life down the road. Men have the upper-hand. It seems very easy for them to find casual sex or girlfriends who are superior to them in every way. Women aren't in a position to negotiate things such as staying a virgin.

Why would women have less sex if their view of men were more positive, unless sex wasn't their favorite thing?

The only thing I can imagine is that in "men's paradise", since men have the upper hand and women can't make demands if they hope to have boyfriends at all, the men become free to treat the women more poorly and relaxed enough to display generally unimpressive behavior, so the women have a negative view of them. They are only having sex because they don't have a choice and it's not making them have good feelings towards men.

This study says there are more rapes in cities where women outnumber men. It goes against the argument that men rape because they don't have access to women and it goes in favor of the argument that in "men's paradise" men are freer to act as jerks since they have the upper hand when it comes to choosing a mate.

I went to a conservative christian college for two years and the ratio of women was four gals to every guy. This did not make the men more attractive or the women less virginal and I transferred to a state college where i was much happier.

The "women dont want sex" model gels with my current relationship, but not previous ones, so im conflicted. But its hard to argue with results. When women have more power relative to men, they have less sex. Hard to interpret that any other way than women wanting sex less than men

you need to consider the personalities of the people who end up in those situations. a college with significantly more men than women (science/engineering schools, probably) is going to attract different types of women than a liberal arts college with more women than men.

STEM schools do tend to have a few sluts and attention whores who seem to be there mostly because it's a target-rich environment. but most of the girls there are nerdy STEM girls focused on school. it's not surprising that a lot of them are virgins.

and a typical liberal arts college with more women than men is going to be a more stereotypical college environment with frat bros and sorority chicks and drunk hookups at parties.

In my only other ltr, which was with a man, we had sex all the time. He was good at it, and I wanted it. If the women you're with don't want sex, maybe you're just bad at It?

The study did not find a statistically significant difference in how much women had overall (single AND taken women). The statistically significant difference was only found in sex frequency in relationships.

Nothing to do with their view of men and more to do with the lack of a need to keep their men "oversexed", which keeps them from straying to other women, as there are fewer women to choose from in a "woman's paradise" market.

How to explain the observation that in real life, women often spurn LTRs in favor of casual sex?

Women often do NOT take casual sex over LTRs. No more than 20% or so of women ever even engage in casual sex.

The answer, in model 2 (BP?), must be that it is difficult for a guy to send a credible signal that he will be faithful. Choosing between an alpha player and a beta guy who claims he will be faithful but is probably a player anyway (a "nice guy TM"), women will choose the alpha every time. In men's paradise, all the men are likely to be players and the women can't trust them with an LTR. (It sucks for those men in "men's paradise" who actually aren't players though. For them it isn't paradise at all.) What do you think? Am I right in saying that the first model is RP and the second is BP? Which model do you think is more accurate?

I don't know why you're to make basic, factual data from a study into RP and BP.

Men get "power" (sex, apparently) in relationships when there are more "options" available to them in a nearby area. That much is clear.

The gender ratio (between normal 40/60 or 60/40 variations) does not have significant impact on how much sex women have overall.

I don't believe either of these models are entirely correct. Women are still going to be choosy to a degree when selecting someone that they would have sex with (attractive men are still going to be more desirable than unattractive men).

I feel that having a plethora of males available is going to cause less of a need to be picky, due to the availability of men, but isn't going to affect their desire to have sex. It enables them to have a larger variety of choice, so they can choose to have sex with more, if they so desired. However, I feel that this choosiness would not change unless the male population severely declined, and I'm speaking in terms of where the male population were in danger of becoming extinct, but I don't believe this would ever happen through any natural means.

My issue with this is that you're citing from colleges, where predominantly female campuses are weak to third wave feminism and post modernist bullshit (both of which hate men), and colleges dominated by men are probably more likely to be conservative and therefore attract more conservative women (who have a more favorable view of men and frequently religious reasons to remain virginal).

Model 1 is incorrect, and leans BP. Less men means more sex for those men. Model 2 is correct, and RP.

The college example is very telling. When women outnumber men, the number of high quality men drops significantly because lots of nerdy guys are in the STEM classes. So it is really an even smaller percentage of men with access to lots of women.

In this scenario, the men have immense bargaining power and will quickly switch partners whenever they can. So women begin having a lower opinion of such callous men.

Reverse this to see why TRP exists. Outside of those skewed university campuses, women receive much more attention than men on average, and have much more bargaining power. So men's opinion of women drops significantly.
