While men also “slut shame,” they usually do it in the emotional context of not wanting their own partner to behave promiscuously with other men; they’re not as concerned with promiscuity in women they’re not interested in.

Women, on the other hand, slut shame in a more bullying and abstract fashion. I believe it’s because, since most women can seduce most men pretty easily, it comes down to mate guarding and status.

If a woman who sees herself as high status by virtue of having a high status mate wants to maintain her place in the pecking order, it’s in her interest to relegate other women to pursuing lower status mates rather than her man. In order to discourage mate poaching, women will use shame to keep their competition in check. This often includes enlisting the aid of their female friends to reinforce the message to potential usurpers.

Also, while men fear being cucked because it implies they’re lower status dupes for working to support another man’s child, women fear having the resources they get from men diminished by a mate’s support of other women.

This leads me to conclude that women, rather than men, are the ones with the most motivation to “slut shame” in a general sense. When a man does it, he’s either (rightly imo) asserting his agency to preemptively reject a risky female or he’s bitter about forming an emotional attatchment to a promiscuous woman.

Women do it as a matter of competitive principle.
