Today it's difficult for women to say they're oppressed, they have the same legal standing and rights, and women continue to accept being and acting like sex objects out of their own choice.

In the past, sure women couldn't vote, but most men couldn't actually vote either.

In the past, women didn't have choice much in how to live and the typical life was that of either a housewife or mistress, but men didn't have it better off either with many dying in war, most being poor hard laborers.

At most you can argue that arranged marriages were some sort of oppression, but really, it's still a mutually beneficial setup, and the husband takes on much responsibility for his wife, additional burden, which doesn't make this oppression either at all.
