"What makes me interesting?" What does this even mean? Many of the characteristics that, say, Mr. Arthur finds interesting about me might well be characteristics that somebody else finds unspeakably dull.

Personally, I enjoy:

What makes me interesting?

When it comes to things I'm passionate about, I am pretty well informed. People are often shocked that despite my shy and introverted nature, I am super outspoken and lively when challenged on a subject.
I'm confident and comfortable with my many quirks. I don't care if my distaste for food with holes (swiss cheese, bagels, etc) appear spergy and strange to people, for example.
I am fiercely loyal to my closest of friends and family, but weirdly cold at the same time, and have no problem doorslamming those who have wronged me. This makes people respect my company with them because I don't bullshit.
I am an informed black conservative.

I'm passionate about cosplay and costuming in general. This also leads into my love of Comiccon and selling shit as a booth babe. I love it, its like a sport to me, but way to unstable as full time work, so doing it at a hobby level for extra cash is great.

I'm passionate about food, not just eating, but eating it especially. Everything from scoping out new recipes, buying fresh ingredients, tasting exotic cuisine, testing new concoctions. Sometimes I think I should have studied culinary...

I am passionate about education. I wish I had the money to just be a full time student for the rest of my life (actually this is my plan after retirement). I think education should be available to anyone who wants it, that education is in and of itself a good thing, independent of job opportunity (though that is an important aspect).

I like guns, golf, boating, playin my banjo, making up songs about my dog, taking my dog to the park, running with my dog, playing with other peoples' dogs, and reading. There are enough folks who share those interests with me but I wouldn't say that "makes me interesting." I'm passionate about my family and their wellbeing, responsible pet ownership and appropriate treatment of animals, and my work.

I am passionate about cities and infrastructure and urban exploring. I travel a lot, and my favourite thing to do is get into the hidden and unexplored parts of a city and to photograph those spaces. I've been lucky enough to live on 3 different continents and to explore the whole world and I'm only 27! I'm an architect, so that's my passion.

As for hobbies, in my spare time I do a lot of drawing and painting, I like to read and also (obviously) browsing reddit. For longterm projects I buy old bikes to fix them up and sell them for a bit of fun. I also try to dedicate 1 day a week where I volunteer at a women's crisis shelter, though to be honest I haven't been able to dedicate as much time towards the shelter lately as my career gets more demanding.

I'll list my hobbies and interests, since those are what I am passionate about, as well as what makes me possibly more interesting (especially if said interests are shared).

Art - drawing (digital and traditional), painting (acrylics or watercolors), sculpting - lots of fanart - I really wish, I could make money off of this
Video games
Video game design/ scripting, 3D modelling, 3D animation (mainly with Unity and Blender) - granted my own projects are more like a bundle of new skills I'm trying to learn and stuff I wanted to try out/ play around with. I like helping people out online with their projects and collaborating
History - probably runs in the family since my father is a historian - no specific time period or subject - I had an obsession with the Romans for a while, then the Francs, then the British empire but anything history in general is fascinating to me.
Technology - reaches into my professional life (mainly electrical engineering and IT) but I really enjoy just learning how things work and how to build them, talking about new cool projects or solutions, hearing about new inventions etc.
Fantasy/SciFi/Super heroes/Anime - Movies, TV shows, Books, Comic books - anything will suck me in and I will become an obsessed fan, talking about nothing else for a while. Lots of fanart will be created in the process of me coping with my addiction.

My passions and interests are : soap making, canning, candle making and herbalism. I also love to write and I have a goal of reading 1 book per week. Also, I enjoy history and I want to learn more about prepping. Am I interesting to others? Maybe. I think what makes me stand out from other women in today's world is that I'm not addicted to my smartphone or reality TV, have a feminine disposition, and I try to be a lifelong learner and remain curious. Most people, especially women seem to give up on learning after they graduate or start popping out kids.

What makes me interesting? Whatever, I'll bite. I suppose I've had a fairly eclectic and variegated life that has resulted in some fairly eclectic and variegated "passions" (god, that word) and skills.

My parents are ultimate nerds, and decided to homeschool me for part of my childhood using pretty much only classic texts, their own expertise, and whatever I specifically requested to learn. Did this cause gaps in my education? A bit, though they were straightened out later. It did, however, create a rapacious appetite for reading across the disciplines, and gave me the gifts of Koine Greek, Latin, French, and Mandarin.

I have a bachelors' degree (anthropology), but I work as an EMT/Search & Rescue personnel. It's a natural fit for the meantime while I prepare for grad school (Nursing/MPH) as I get to occasionally do some very kick-ass things, and have developed quite the repertoire of disgusting stories and sagas that are best served with tequila. I'm not working at the moment, though: my last shift was in early August, as I have since moved to Jordan to perfect my Arabic and to work as a research assistant for an anthropologist/epidemiologist to pad my resume for grad school.

Ah, speaking of epidemiology and anthropology- my OTP. I've always loved hard science, especially human physiology, but my training was in the social sciences. I could talk for days about both... so why not make that a career? Upon my return from Amman, I plan on doing a joint nursing/epidemiology degree with a focus on disease migration in refugee population. My ultimate goal is to get a PhD, inshallah, in medical anthropology and to work in an applied environment instead of academic, but life happens. Who knows. But those are a few of my "passions" and interesting points, which at least a few people find entertaining.

What makes me interesting:

I'm a bootstrapper and hustler. My income is cobbled together from a combination of freelancing, odd jobs, and a home business I started with $1200. Now I'm saving up to start a second business. I'm passionate about the idea of never setting foot in another cubicle.
I'm a jack of all trades, I enjoy learning new things, and jumping into new projects/hobbies with both feet. I have a wide breadth of knowledge and am capable of conversing at least semi-competently on almost any subject.
Between myself and my husband, I'm more spontaneous and open-minded. I like to surprise him with "creative" outings. Things like... Going to a bouldering gym, volunteering on a farm, going to a planetarium. Sometimes we discover a new passion, sometimes it's a total flop, but most of the time it's just a cool one-off event and we're glad to have had the experience.

I don't think I'm interesting at all, but I'm somehwat passionate about reading books and writing stories. I am not interested in a relationship right now, but if I ever try again, I would like to find someone I have somewhat similar interests with so that we can occassionally discuss something, for once.

My most successful relationship was with my first boyfriend and outside of "chemistry" it really helped that we had somewhat similar interests (he didn't read, but we both liked video games and movies back then)

🎶 "These are a few of my favorite things..."🎶

John Steinbeck. Hoo boy. I'm on a binge this year. It started with Cannery Row and now I've read nearly all his books. Even took a trip Monterey and Salinas to visit all the spots. I am also obsessed with tide pools and marine life and Ed Ricketts (mmmm...) thanks to John S. I spend a lot of time at the beach and at aquariums. I love the plotting, aloof "devil fish" (octopus) and all the lore that surrounds them. Maybe I'll read Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea next.

Patricia Highsmith. Nobody does it better. Deep Water is one of her best. She was a totally unapologetic misogynist lesbian, and her stories are always told from a male character's POV. With the exception of The Price of Salt (aka, Carol), all of her books are "heterosexual." If you like mid-20th century noir, you'll love her stuff. I love classic American noir crime novels whether they're hard boiled or just dark and gritty. The modern stuff just doesn't compare. I'm sure there's terrific contemporary books, but I feel like I have so much to catch up on.

Philosophy. I enjoy reading the classics as well as contemporary stuff though post-modernism bores me to tears.

The Bible. Fascinating, bizarre book. Love it.

Running. Going out for 20 miles on Sunday. A woman in my running club wants company for her long run, so I'll go for as long as I can. I have done 11 miles before (steep terrain, trail running), so we'll see how I fare with a slower pace and a flat course.

Excel. I will =SUMIF() all the things. My last job still sends me stuff to work on. It's a non-profit (library), so I'm happy to help for me.

I genuinely like people. I think everyone is fascinating. I like to imagine their inner lives. I would be a terrible stalker if I had no ethics. People like being liked. They think that makes me interesting when really it is just me reflecting back the best part of themselves. (I think in many ways, infatuation and the good feeling of friendship is a projection of our ideal selves onto another.)

Oh, and cats. I foster kittens and have my own cat. Last week, I briefly had 6 cats in my house. I'm down to 4, soon down to 1. It's probably not interesting to other people except cat people. It's a lot of work to keep my house clean and fresh-smelling. I pride myself on having a home that doesn't smell like an animal lives there.

I suspect the same things that make me interesting to some also make me boring to others. When I was 12, my parents took me to a child psychologist who suggested that I try asking classmates what they did over the weekend, rather than talking about sex, politics, and religion all the time.

Since then, I like to think I've become more well-rounded and socially flexible. My interests have also expanded from sex, politics, and religion to sex, politics, religion, psychology, mathematics, criminology, and what my peers did over the weekend.

I think people find me interesting because I'm able to carry on a conversation with anyone, in a wide variety of social settings. I don't give away my life story right away, so people learn about me over time, which I think adds intrigue. I know for sure that people who have met me after I quit drinking find me interesting in that I still go to the same parties, bars, festivals, concerts etc - they don't know very many sober people who do that.

I'm passionate about travel, movies (especially film theory and horror), my city and exploring everything it has to offer, serial killers, food and drink (cooking, buying, eating), live music and just new experiences in general. I'll rarely turn down an invitation to something I've never tried before.

I am a professional opera singer and specialize in playing unhinged villains, so people tend to find that interesting and ask a lot of questions. I save my drama for the stage, though. In real life I am quite placid. I've cultivated an outgoing persona due to my career, even though I'm an introvert at heart. I adore cooking for people, especially my partner, British comedy, true crime, thrift stores, Shakespeare, museums and classical music. I like weird craft projects and taking trippy photos in costumes. My parents are both visual artists, so I grew up weird. Also, I'm old and I've had a lot of life experience due to my unconventional career choice.

What makes me interesting? My past. I get into it with people and they are always fascinated to find it about the things I've been through and the experiences I've had. People are always fascinated when they find any of it out and definitely dig in, trying to find out more. I'm definitely open about it all, but some of it is hard to talk about. I know how to dance around the conversation though, only discussing what I'm comfortable with and sidetracking when needed.

What am I passionate about? So many things. I love to talk with people about all sorts of things. Whenever you are doing the standard hullabaloo about what your hobbies are I usually say "gaming, reading, writing, art, Sci if, and makeup" but honestly there is so much more than that and it goes so much deeper than that. But those are easy, broad topics. I mean with art, I'm only going to know a few of the more famous artists but I'll love going over painting and maybe doing something together. With Scifi, you can mention anything and I'm going to be able to give you an in depth conversation on I and discuss everything about it- the technologies, the comparisons, potentials... I love it all. Want to squee about makeup and brands? Let me tell you about how I shopped my stash today! Actually was able to tell the brand of lipstick a cashier was wearing the other day (in a totally unrelated store) and we gushed about the brand for little while as well. This has happened with many other things, whenever I find an "in".
