Although usually I don't spend much time on TRP itself, this thread caught my eye. I feel like this is a pretty standard claim from the TRP camp, and there's other evidence to support it. This OKCupid analysis is cited a lot on this front.

Personally, this matches up with what I've seen in my experience. As far as I'm concerned (and most of my male friends are on the same page), an "average" girl would be a 5: nothing alluring about her but nothing actively repelling. Neutral. It seems like to girls, to be "average", a guy must be actively attractive, at least 6', have a steady job and a decent place, have good social skills, etc.

This seems like great support for AFBB - if girls see most guys as below average, they'll fuck the top 20% (who will fuck them as long as they're not hideous and they give it up easily), and then when they get older and want support and stability, they'll inevitably settle for a guy they consider below average, inferior really. I mean, if those charts are at all correct, then most girls will end up with guys they consider below average. Because almost all men are in their eyes.

Why is this so worrisome? Well, when I fuck 5s and 6s out of necessity, it makes me kind of hate everyone and everything. Sure, it's better than no sex, but it's not like that's what anyone actually wants. It's frustrating and makes me resent myself as well as the girl. Though it's through no fault of hers, of course, she's still a prime piece of evidence that I'm getting the paltry scraps of what I actually want in life.

A big part of my frustration is that I did date probably an 8 (with a 9 or 10 body) when I was 20. Having sex with someone actually hot, a girl I would jerk off to if I came across her online, made me really realize how pathetic all of my other lays had really been. Not only were they definitely all cases of settling for what I could get, but most of them were within the confines of a long term relationship. I wasn't even getting sex because I was sexy, I was getting it in exchange for being a boyfriend.

Now, imagine you're a woman who is OK looking and sleeps around. As long as you clearly put yourself out there, there will definitely be times when you can fuck a really tall good looking guy. I mean, why wouldn't they unless you were disfigured or 300lbs? Then, due to the fact that almost all men are below average to the eyes of a female, if she wants to get married, she will in all likelihood settle. Not get what she wants. Which means that her husband probably cares more about her than she does about him, the sex will be infrequent and boring, and overall, she will be unhappy and resentful on some level for the dregs she managed to lock down. That feeling I get with most of my underwhelming notches extended throughout a lifetime commitment sounds like hell. I wouldn't be okay being the object of such frustration and negativity, especially from someone who is supposed to be my life partner.

I kind of got off track from the original question, but that's just to head off the inevitable "so what if she's been with someone hotter?" responses. So what? So his most important relationship in his life is a sham, and her life is an underwhelming disappointment. But to get back to the point I want challenged: women have a warped perception of "average". They don't factor in all of the ugly, short, unemployed, autistic guys out there. They start with guys who are at least cute and then count up to the top tier and use that as their sample. Guys on the other hand realize there are plenty of fat, ugly girls out there, so average just means "meh", or "fine looking". There aren't even any real considerations beyond that like income or clothing, which makes it all the more uneven. Do you really think that women don't hold much higher standards and thus fulfill TRP's 80/20 rule when it comes down to people they actually want to fuck while young and hot rather than the poor chump they end up settling for, the guy who probably never got to experience the good life of fucking a variety of hot young women without committing?
