I've always been pretty dismissive of the whole alpha/beta dichotomy TRP uses, and I do still think that those are two extremes of behaviour and shouldn't be used as absolutes like TRP uses them, however something occurred to me just last night that made me realise the stereotypical "beta male" is perhaps more valid than I assumed.

As I've mentioned before I go after kinky sub girls. And nearly every single one of these girls I've been with has told me stories of guys who were scared to even do mildly kinky shit because they thought it was wrong. As an example a girl I was talking to last night told me she likes being touched as she falls asleep but an ex told her he wouldn't do that because it "feels rapey." In fact I'm often surprised to hear that it's actually not so easy for sub girls to find dom guys outside of BDSM events because a lot of them have this mindset.

Now to be clear I'm not saying that being vanilla is what's beta. If a girl asks a guy to spank her and he tells her he's not into S&M then cool, whatever. But I can't ignore that if your reason for not trying something the girl wants is because you think it's similar to rape, that screams white knight and it pretty much fits the whole beta narrative perfectly.

Not only that but it comes across to me as ironically misogynistic. By telling a woman that what she wants is bad and wrong you're basically assuming agency over her sexuality in your quest to be a super politically correct white knight pussy, are you not?

I'd be interested to see what both sides have to say about this, especially TBP. I'm sure it applies in a lot ways outside of BDSM too. The examples I've heard were only very mildly kinky stuff in the first place. The main point to be made here is a lot of white knight type guys seem to be out there and their attitude makes them pretty much scared of exploring sexually with women.
