Provided the prostitute is an adult who's fully willingly gone into the profession for herself and no other beneficiaries pressuring her behind the scenes, I'd say prostitute every day of the week. Aforementioned kind of prostitution is legal where I live, I see nothing wrong with it under those circumstances. I think if I were a man and wanted to visit a prostitute, though, I'd probably try to make sure that she was older (25+), didn't feel like she had no other option but to do this job and seemed mentally stable.

The main issue with men using hookers is the potential of exploiting women (sometimes girls).

I find it very very hard to believe any female over the age of 15 who isn't mentally impaired would believe a guy who outright says "I'll commit to you, but only if you fuck me".

Lying to and/or manipulating someone to get laid is absolutely awful behavior. When you mislead a woman to get what you want from her you're undermining her ability to make decisions in her own best interest. I think that's quite violating.

On the other hand hiring a sex worker is fine. It's an honest transaction where each person gets what they want out of it. (Provided that the sex worker is working that job willingly. The fact that that's not guaranteed is part of why reforming laws around sex work is so important.

It is morally wrong to deceive someone and lie. It could possibly be illegal to hire a prostitute depending on where you live and it is immoral to break the laws of the city in which you agree to live but the act of hiring a prostitute in and of itself is not immoral.

I live in a society where prostitution is legal, regulated and taxed. There have been brothels offering discounts for senior citizens or the unemployed. While there are still cases of trafficking and so on, by and large the situation has improved by quite a lot.

Frankly, the possibility to run into one of those cases without realizing is still enough to not consider the idea. If it was possible to eliminate that possibility, I'd consider prostitution probably the most honest form of sexual interaction among adults and possibly the least emotionally damaging.

Even when you're pretty upfront about having no intentions of getting into any committed relationship, there's still a disturbingly large possibility that this clearest of messages isn't heard. "Oh, I'll make him fall for me..." or whatever the rationalization is this time around. You can never be absolutely sure there will be no emotional scars. But since this at the very least is reliable as far as ensuring some form of consent goes, I'd pick this, if you put a gun to my head.

I wouldn't pick neither out of free will.

It is unethical to lie because it causes harm. Hiring a prostitute isn't "immoral" but instead reducing complex humans to ATM's and/or objectification is unethical. Using a prostitute is only unethical if you have reduced her agency. There are ways to avoid/reduce this. Legalization and/or ethical practices while in the "company of a prostitute" is one.

It is immeasurably more ethical to hire a voluntary prostitute than to scam someone whose heart is on the line into doing a prostitute's job.

Some players are almost like statutory rapists. They look for legal teens and women who are vulnerable, and they get them to say yes in a context where they are certain to make a decision that will harm them.

An 18 year old can't make a meaningful decision with false information anymore than a miner can make a meaningful decision with an immature mind.

The only reason playing people shouldn't be illegal is that the law would be unenforceable. You can't prove whether or not the player meant what he said at the time he said it.

Players are still the scum of the earth. Their sex scams are even worse than most scams involving money. They can do permanent damage. They make it impossible for some people to fall in love again, bond as closely as before, feel securely loved, and trust their significant others. Players also use women through their reproductive prime so that if they get married, they will be older, and they may not be able to have children.

On the flip side, players sometimes knock up young women who thought they could rely on them, and they leave them to raise babies alone. That can force them to drop out of school, and live paycheck to paycheck their whole lives. Even despite their best efforts, the kid may grow up with unmet needs.

That's part of the reason I want voluntary prostitution to be legal. It's an honest exchange between two consenting adults, and it takes the place of a scam.

Making voluntary prostitution legal without feeding the demand that leads to human trafficking and exploitation would be difficult. I would be in favor of a licensing system where it is only legal to hire prostitutes who have proved they are over 18 and been interviewed by social workers. They should also get regular STD screenings.
