You've probably noticed less participation here, and more on /r/asktrp as Reddit admin have been tweaking the settings to prevent people from accessing our subreddit. Some recent changes:

  • Upvoting content that violates Reddit's wrongthink policy will now end in personal bans.
  • On the new design, you can no longer access quarantined subs without verying an email address. (You can get around this with https://old.reddit.com)
  • Reddit Apps will show /r/theredpill is simply gone or missing unless you're logged in with a previously authenticated red pill account.

These changes are expected as they try to stifle any conversation that challenges the status quo leading up to the 2020 election. We are quite literally the heart and origin of many offshoot communities who have adopted our language to discuss other counter-cultural matters.

This very fact makes me proud because regardless of what happens to our community on reddit, the ideas and memes that we put into motion will live on regardless of our status.

But, we're not down and we're not out. We have big news on the horizon. We have been hard at work completing a very feature-rich alternative to reddit on our off-site meeting place: https://www.trp.red and we're getting very close to opening some of these forums for public use.

Our forums.red updates are shaping up to seriously challenge reddit's usability, and our new flairs feature (users, posts), which spans across both the forums and trp.red tribes, will give moderators (tribe leaders) complete control over their communities.

We've been hard at work putting together advanced mod tools to give tribe leaders the fine-tuned control they need to keep communities running smoothly.

I know that it's been a long time coming but as the already flourishing community on https://www.trp.red would attest, the updates have been big and have improved performance considerably.

Thanks to our supporters we have been able to grow our tech infrastructure to include dedicated database and caching hardware to manage as users migrate over. And that's good news given our 2-5 million monthly hits as of the past few months.

I'm very excited to launch forums in the coming weeks (we have a scheduled maint window March 6th to do yet another big migration to beefier hardware) and will update everybody here accordingly.

In the meantime, please feel free to join our rowdy userbase and make your own tribe, or browse one of our hundreds of tribes already going such as:

GLOGANG

Financial Independence

TheRedPill

SJW/Politics

Bodybuilding

Thanks again for your support and I look forward to seeing you over on https://www.trp.red

These are the official moderators of TRP as of 2/26/2020. If you see any others you let us know ASAP so we can boot them if they try to infiltrate us the way they did T_D:

/u/redpillschool
/u/darkredmatter
trpbot
/u/CrazyHorseInvincible
/u/bsutansalt
/u/EpicLevelCheater
AutoModerator
/u/Halitenina
/u/SlyGradient
/u/TheRedPike
/u/RedShifter99
/u/RedForEducation
/u/LegendOfTheFrontier

For those who do not know, somehow new moderators were appointed to T_D who promptly booted some of the actual moderators and appear to have started closing down their subreddit.

This sub now has more shady tactics used against it than T_D.

And for what? The "protected groups" rule that somehow doesn't affect GC, FDS etc.

Politics is an abstract tool used to control a people. Sex is the best way to control people. Therefore politics is a way to control sex.

[–]1Sir_Distic37 points38 points  (6 children) | Copy

That's like saying feminists are using a political agenda to control sex, which they (the females) possess to control people....

Wait a minute!

"No one will fuck you if you call us out" is the implied threat. "We speak for all women so don't offend us."

[–]destraht8 points9 points  (4 children) | Copy

Well I see all of this as an extension of the central banks which are running the show. Women have been in a sense bought off Venezuelan appeasement style to shill for the destruction of the society so that it can be rebuilt into something similar to China. Women are good at figuring out who has the power and its not the normal men, strong and confident or otherwise. If we had the power then the women would be shilling for us, rather than working against us. In this later phase the game was that you could be free as long as you weren't being fucked over by a woman, because that was how the elites go their tentacles in. Now that many more men are trying to go alpha and MGTOW the system will simply change the rules of who is fucked to be basically everyone de facto as default. I see this as a good thing because its making them "show their cards". They already had this power and have been building up the control grid under different veils. The raw in-your-face tyranny might seem bad but the sooner that happens relative to the construction of the many-faceted control grid the better. If the tyranny is forced to reveal itself a day sooner than later it is an opportunity for a man to discontinue participation in its construction.

[–]1Ill_mumble_that9 points10 points  (0 children) | Copy

Making women the primary spenders in households was the best thing the banks could have done.

Women consume, consume, consume. They want attention and will buy things that assist them in getting attention. They seldom create anything.

For the banks, this means debt. And debt means interest $$$. The people that own the banks are typically also invested in big corporate business. So they get another benefit from debt there: wage control. The working class will accept lower wages if they are in debt, and they are also less likely to leave a job since debt implies they have no finances secured for themselves if they find themselves without employment.

Tldr; the banks used women to put the West in debt. Debt creates alot of money for the banking system and increases corporate profits.

[–]Redpiller774 points5 points  (0 children) | Copy

Even if this were true MGTOW is refusing to play the game, not fight against it. At best it just doesn't support the status quo. Which is better than supporting it, but don't think that it affects it negatively. Specially because those men need sex too and most will cave at the smallest sniff of "unicorn" pussy.

Are you people not trying to control the sexual movements of others, by shaming women into having less sex with people who don't neg them?

Is it because you are concerned that being in those strong vaginas will whittle your peepees down to nothing from their crushing kegel strength?

You should be. That's a real fear.

Other than not having an inexperienced person to manipulate, I mean. Terrifying.

[–]Modredpillschool[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children) | Copy

Are you people not trying to control the sexual movements of others, by shaming women into having less sex with people who don't neg them?

We are not trying to control anybody. You'd know if you bothered learning about the people you're now trying to insult. I guess that's too much to ask.

[–]1Ill_mumble_that8 points9 points  (0 children) | Copy

strong vaginas ... crushing kegel strength...

Stop, I can only get so erect before the pressure from the erection starts to hurt.

I wish more vaginas had crushing kegel strength. Sadly, only pregnant women seem to consistently practice kegel strengthening. And while I'm happy to bang a pregnant lady, they aren't as readily available. And sadly, their condition always alleviates itself within 9 months - after which they seldom maintain their kegel exercise routine.

Good idea though. I'm adding this to my Tindr and Grindr profile "seeking strong kegel'd crushing-strength vagina/ass, don't message me unless you do kegels."

TRP is largely considered a toolbox by anyone who remotely knows what he's talking about. There are countless posts that say to not fall for the con and live for yourself. They even tell you to not trust TRP because they will fuck your wife and daughters. And you shouldn't.

This is really the key to having a successor. The .red domain might sting a bit but enough users may offset it

[–]PoonBuffet4 points5 points  (12 children) | Copy

Unfortunately, if it's not a .com domain, it doesn't really exist.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (11 children) | Copy

Maybe to idiots. Put anything after https:// and people get the hint.

[–]TheAmphibiaRapist8 points9 points  (10 children) | Copy

This is about Google algorithms, friend. Trp.red is an uphill battle domain name

[–]superstar94b1 point2 points  (9 children) | Copy

You’re right. I build websites. That .red is going to fuck up the algorithm and that site will be in the gallows of Google. Obviously most who already wants to find the site, will find the site. But that’s not going to work for a guy who doesn’t really know what the Red Pill is and decides to go to Google. He’s not going to find Trp.red within the first 20 pages.

[–]TheGweatandTewwible2 points3 points  (7 children) | Copy

This is interesting Can you go a bit more in depth on why that is? I might be working with SEO in the future and would like to know

[–]superstar94b1 point2 points  (6 children) | Copy

One of the things that goes into the algorithm that Google uses is if the site is a www.[nameofsite].com. If you have multiple dots within the name (for example trp.red instead of www.trp.com) that is going to lower the standing in the algorithm. I’ve noticed that after several years of SEO and creating sites early on that had multiple dots. You wouldn’t want a site to be (www.amazon.shophere.com). You’d want it to simply be (www.amazon.com), if you want the site to return as a more relevant result given how their algorithm works.

[–]TheGweatandTewwible2 points3 points  (5 children) | Copy

Hmm... I'm not sure I understand. What does the '.red' have to do with how many dots the domain name has?

[–]wtfdoiaskfor11 point2 points  (4 children) | Copy

Nothing. Guy has no idea what he's talking about.

First, it is true that Google Search prefers top-level domains (e.g. website.com) rather than subdomains (e.g. website.somehost.com). But the www. (which includes a dot) does not make it any worse. This has been confirmed time and time again by Google employees. It's purely aesthetic and Google Search knows that (although site owners dislike it since it's redundant and unnecessary, but on the other hand, users see "www" and think "this must be a web page link!", so it stays).

Second, it's false that .com is better than any other TLD (top-level domain, or the last part after the last dot, i.e. the TLD for google.com is com, the TLD for trp.red is red, etc. The fully qualified top-level domain name would be .com and .red, respectively). Google themselves use .google, e.g. domains.google as their domain registrar, for example, or blog.google for a blog of their own. Many engineers and programmers use .io for their personal blogs, since "io" means "input / output" and that's a big engineering nerd thing. Google's parent company, Alphabet, uses abc.xyz. This certainly does not bring them lower on the results page just because.

Third, Google's algorithm doesn't work with such quirks anymore. There used to be a time (many years ago) when Google Search did prioritize certain webpages due to these quirks, but that didn't help anybody, since (1) website owners abused those tricks to get a higher (possibly undeserved) spot on the results page, and (2) why would Search return a less relevant result for the user's query? It was clearly not what is supposed to happen, and they work hard on fixing it.

Fourth, Google wants to show users what users expect. If you are searching for "how to cook eggs", you expect to get a result of a web page teaching you how to cook eggs, or possibly a YouTube video, not a dictionary web page that happens to contain these words. Google knows - and it discriminates for you in order to show you the best results.

Fifth, and last but not least - TRP.red will be censored anyway, because of two reasons: (1) it's very controversial, and Google doesn't want any more scrutiny and controversy, since that harms their business and they're trying to cater to the maximum amount of people (SJWs included); and (2) realistically, TRP is a small community and will remain small since the predominant narrative is the SJW/feminist narrative, and more people = more searches = more views = lower rank for TRP and higher for bullshit blue pill websites.

To conclude, if you search "how do I get laid" or "how to improve myself" or "blunt truth about human sexual relationships", you'll get buzzfeed and wikihow, not TRP, and that's not changing anytime soon.

I hate it as much as you do, but it's what it is.

[–]xMellow1 point2 points  (1 child) | Copy

why don't we buy theredpill.com / red-pill.com / the-redpill.com / or trp.com?

[–]Modredpillschool[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

All of those are taken, and hyphens kill a domain name.

TRP.RED is short, sweet, and memorable.

The take you can get from that is: google is not independent. Whenever something is against the mainstream overtone window it will be filtered on google. Hell, they even filtered financial (or out of the sudden placed lowly) advise forum entries on global pandemics before Corona finally hit the US.

[–]Senior EndorsedMattyAnon12 points13 points  (1 child) | Copy

Google stopped linking to reddit/TRP when the site got quarantined, and since then they link to the feminist red pill knockoff.

There was a big exposé a few years ago that showed the reason for the spookily accurate search results was in fact down to humans hand tuning the major results.

Google is not the automated system they would have you believe, it's largely curated by humans, and controlled by the people who own it.

They tow the line on the narrative the same as the rest of the media.

[–]Senior Contributor: "The Court Jester"GayLubeOil73 points74 points  (33 children) | Copy

While Reddit admins like to pretend they are silly techies just updating policies, what you need to understand is that everything they do is informed by social theory.

With regard to the Quarentine Reddit realized they can't just ban content they dislike as that creates massive upheaval and pushback. Instead they intend to slowly nudge everyone off of Reddit they dislike.

What this means for us is that we need to get a critical mass of people over to TRP.red so that the community can be self sustaining.

[–]GlobalAsshat21 points22 points  (22 children) | Copy

This is no different than how the mainstream media operates. Rather than attack something they don't like they use silence and misdirection. They show you what they don't care about so that it focuses your attention away from what they do. 9/11 truth is the biggest modern example of this. They don't debate 9/11 truthers, they ignore them. I'm not going to debate anyone here on 9/11, just give you an example of how the media operates. They ignore what they don't want you to know and they certainly don't teach you to think for yourself, they tell you how you should think and what you should think. This is also how the schools operate. Most of recorded history is half truths or outright misinformation. They want you to be a good sheep slaving away at your job and gossiping about your co-workers, not questioning why things are the way they are. That's some dangerous thinking there.

It's not good to have a bunch of disenfranchised incels that can't get sex in a society with guns and bombs. This place saved me. It can save other men, but not if they censor it. Empowering women while emasculating men, and then taking away their outlets for self improvement.... What could go wrong? :\ Secretly they want more active shooters though so they can clamp down on gun laws. Create a problem, then create it's solution that they planned way in advance. Another way they operate. They can't implement their social credit system while we are armed (in the US) ... surely none of the people left in this sub are still socialists who believe in disarming the populace the way our society is headed?

[–]Modredpillschool[S] 22 points23 points  (15 children) | Copy

This place saved me. It can save other men, but not if they censor it.

Suppressing evolutionary instinct in time will lead to a revolt. It's how all empires come to an end. There's nothing they can to do stop it. They can try, with the best of intentions in mind, but they will fail.

And don't blame us. We are fucking the cheerleaders on the sidelines while everyone else fights it out.

[–]DancesWithPugs5 points6 points  (11 children) | Copy

[–]Senior Endorsed Contributormax_peenor1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy

What am I supposed to help? Bag and tag? Hold up the score cards? This shit is going to pull into that station no matter what I do.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (9 children) | Copy

I'm going to be straight up:

I was once you, the chicken little that watched as the sky fell. The decline was upon us and we were doing nothing to stop it!

Then, as time went on, as more and more bad decisions were made by those in power, I realized something.

It is all out of my hands. As an individual, all I can do is make sure that I'm ok once the new world order takes hold.

What you're basically suggesting is that we stop a force of nature. It's like a volcanic eruption. A tsunami. A hurricane.

There is no "helping" you fool. There is only ensuring your own survival in the aftermath.

And you know what? We're just peasants no matter what you think. As Rome fell to the barbarians, you know what the end result was? It was a blessing for the peasants because the taxation, theft, executions, and slavery from the Roman soldiers ceased.

Basically, the decline is a blessing. It is Mana from heaven. It is the salvation of the individual because the individual will be free from the tyranny of the masses.

So you can fuck right off. This isn't our fight. This isn't a fight we can possibly win. We cannot be so arrogant and presumptuous that we assume we can dictate the laws of nature at our leisure. We are lowly animals on a ball of rock and water. Know your place and understand that your attitude is completely wrong.

Enjoy the fucking decline because it doesn't give a fuck about how you feel. You want to make a change? Gain more power. Become a Donald Trump.

Stop expecting other people to fix the world when you're not even willing to do shit yourself. You arrogant prick. u/max_peenor, I couldn't resist.

Much information was lost in history because of religious zealots burning libraries during the Crusades. They didn't like new ideas.

You guys think you're coming up with new things, but this is how men have always seen women: objects to exploit, without their own scopes of experience.

Get used to the world changing.

Because you guys are not in the libraries, you are trying to burn them.

Libraries, filled with books, written by hard working intelligent men.

Crusades, a world wide millitary campaign, directed by one greedy old man called the pope, who owned everything.

Your analogy doesn't support your point.

I wonder, who's the pope now? Who has the power, infuence and wealth of a medieval pope these days?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

[–]LukesLikeIt-1 points0 points  (0 children) | Copy

We can definitely stop them. Why do you think they’re trying to ban guns

[–]DancesWithPugs4 points5 points  (2 children) | Copy

I agree, you make some excellent points.

The social credit system is incremental. There was a day back in history when there was no such thing as a credit score, and another day before social media.

Nudging is the right way to understand what's happening. The people you are talking about make plans decades in advance. There are adjustments and complications of course. For the average person struggling to pay attention for more than a few minutes, generational planning is alien thinking. Combine this with school indoctrination, media bombardment, propaganda, and the final fucked up cherry on this shit sundae: the arrogance to believe no one could possibly trick you 'cause I'm so smart.' That's how you get a gullible population that can't see the forest for the trees, and isn't even sure what a forest even is.

[–]LukesLikeIt0 points1 point  (1 child) | Copy

Exactly (they) want us to turn on each other instead of them. Everything that (they’re) doing right now is to achieve this.

[–]Gaboyski_8 points9 points  (2 children) | Copy

It appears there's some Venn Diagram overlap between redpilled men and everyone else who's gonna be screwed over by this new Reddit policy. I honestly fear that this will just result in a ton of backlash but in the end will still preserve the status quo, unless somebody comes up with an alternative social media platform. But even in that case, that alternative will only serve as an echo chamber for those who hold dissident opinion. Many in this website will still browse here because of the non-political consumerist stuff. Same dynamic in regard to Facebook, YouTube and Google.

[–]TheGweatandTewwible1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy

That's the same with almost all social media platforms, though. People rarely look for opposing opinions and just want an echo chamber. The only sites that have truly maintained free speech (4chan, Bitchute, etc.) have been so awfully ostracized and slandered that people don't even consider it an option.

In other words, people like free speech until it's something they don't agree with

[–]Unlikely_Composer3 points4 points  (1 child) | Copy

Agreed. And as someone above said, it needs to be searchable an findable on google. Reddit has truly lost its way.

[–]DancesWithPugs2 points3 points  (0 children) | Copy

Maybe this was the plan all along, just like how ads crept in. Thought control isn't just a cliche, it's a business.

[–]_Icarus_Reborn_2 points3 points  (1 child) | Copy

It goes this way once people are thought of as a giant mass of rolling bubbling flesh instead of as individuals that should be informed. These power brokers are always rationalizing their beliefs and the more that they reshape people into flesh golems the more that they become correct. I stand opposed to this since I want people to understand difficult and painful subjects. May the best world view destroy the other.

[–]superstar94b1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy

That domain name isn’t going to yield relevant results on Google. Or even DuckDuckGo. Someone will have to get a real domain name. Hell, I’d let you guys come over to a web app I’m creating that’s similar to reddit. The quarantine (and recent issues with all social media companies) made me realize that there’s an actual market for a forum that will let people say whatever they actually want. It may take me a while to figure out how to get the search results for each forum in a Google search similar to how reddit does that (so far I only know how I’d go about getting decent SEO for our homepage, but not individual forums within the web application itself. People would have to search within the app for specific forums like the Red Pill forum).

[–]Didiathon3 points4 points  (2 children) | Copy

I was doing research the other day to try to find out the history of home loans and when this became true in the US; settlers didn’t need a bank to build a house. They just needed enough people in the town willing and able to build it.

When exactly did banks replace small town pooled construction?

I know houses have a lot more going on now than they used to, and even back then, there were implicit/explicit IOUs, but I find it troubling how those IOUs have shifted away from other members of the town to large commercial banks. I think housing prices have been artificially jacked up because of that, through low payment but very long term loans only big banks can manage/handle, and not the other way around. If those loans didn’t exist, I think housing prices would drop significantly.

[–]BaconWaken0 points1 point  (1 child) | Copy

Interesting concept and I think I agree that the prices would be lower. But what about materials/labor cost? Do you think that will all follow suit and drop in price?

I think labor prices would drop a bit; not sure about materials, as I think a lot of the supply chain stuff for materials is pretty efficient/can’t drop much, but idk. I think it would mostly change the volume and type of housing produced.

Basically I think contractors would be incentivized to build multiple smaller, simpler, more efficiently constructed houses instead of larger, more time and material intensive houses to make it worth their while, as the larger houses wouldn’t sell. I think all the existing big houses would be what primarily drop in price, as there would be an oversupply of houses out of reach, and they would either have to be converted into multiple smaller properties to sell (which costs money) or simply lowered to a price that would actually sell.

So basically I think suppliers would be unaffected, laborers a little bit affected, and home owners expecting to sell would be very affected.

I’m not sure if my outlook or those predictions are accurate, but the politics of it would be very difficult if they are. The people most invested in their communities (current home owners) would lose out. There’d have to be some sort of a weening/transition, and idk if that’s possible. But I think it would result in lots of long term benefits, like making it easier to relocate due to not being locked into long term mortgages, increasing responsibility and sense of belonging/investment by young people in communities due to more home ownership, increasing incentive to earn money from the type of economic activity that produces jobs rather than just milking more and more out of real estate over slow drips for longer and longer periods of time, etc.

I’m not an economist or anything, so take all that with a big grain of salt. Also, there’s a finite amount of land in desirable areas; that’s a pretty big factor that stays constant regardless of the availability of credit.

EDIT: also, just to clarify, I think home loans are inevitable/will always be a thing, but what I think would be beneficial/lead to the effects I’m describing would be the replacement of big bank, long term, big home loans with small town, shorter term, more modest loans closer to the small town pooled construction type of thing that I believe used to be the norm.

Cancel culture is just an unofficial, indirect form of this. I've seen people fired from blue collar jobs for what they've said on social media, as if their opinions have anything to do with their job duties.

[–]DancesWithPugs1 point2 points  (2 children) | Copy

Main feedback from me is keep drama and bickering off the main feed, if that's what is front and center. I don't necessarily mean setting a policy, more about setting a tone.

I suggest a more self help angle, less focus on manipulation or being in a bad boy's club.

I hope you find this constructive. I wouldn't bother typing this f I didn't want the site to grow.

Are you going for a niche or a wide audience? Is a feature for your preference or the customer's preference? What might drive people away? Don't neglect these kinds of questions. It's challenging to know the answers with the web where anyone could stumble upon it.

I respect the work done so far.

[–]Modredpillschool[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child) | Copy

I do, thanks. Right now we are trying to find the best balance for an outward facing feed that isn't full of trolls / scare new users off.

The original architecture was this: The "Daily Prescription" is a curated feed with only members you choose to "follow" and a handful of pre-programmed EC users (which you can unfollow if you want).

The "All Updates" feed was a mishmash of everybody on the site. Most people gravitated to this feed, and then got offended when trolls abounded.

Our goal was to separate groups that don't necessarily like each other using tribes. For instance, MGTOW and TRP probably don't get along very well, but I wanted our life raft to be big enough for both. So tribes is a fix for that.

Right now, however, people are trying to battle for the full platform on the all-users feed.

I am still working on the best way to resolve it. We won't be turning to censorship for anything that isn't rule breaking (which is basically illegal shit).

The questions forums.red and trp.red plan to answer I've discussed in a few places but I'll summarize here:

We wish to host forums with topics that:

  • Do not have a safe haven elsewhere,
  • Are grounded in reason with intellectual rigor (that is, it's a discussion of persuasion rather than simply a fan-club)
  • Are forbidden ideas outside the overton window.
  • Would not find a home elsewhere.

That means we don't care for porn, kitten pictures, or the flat earth society, because most of those are safe elsewhere.

I discuss this further in my response to whether or not we would entertain the "JQ" here: https://www.trp.red/p/trp/885

What makes TRP so great is that, while we talk about ideas that are outside the overton window, we are also very selective about what ideas we discuss and entertain. We want the best, most intellectually riguous discussions. And that flies somewhat counter to free-speech as a concept, because we have to moderate this discussion to keep it intellectual. If you start posting racist jokes in TRP you will be removed. Not because we are anti-free-speech but because it doesn't serve our topic or add to our discussion, which under attack enough for its own reasons.

I want to apply this selectivity to Forums.Red. I want to engender conversations on other topics that have been run out of the other towns because of their position outside the current overton window - thus the tagline "Forbidden Ideas." But I want to select the ones with intellectual rigor, because I want to attract the smart people, I want to have the smart conversations.

Is this truly free speech? No, it's not. But I think everybody will be able to understand that this undertaking is going to be a fight. It will be work and will cost time and money to protect. So if I'm going up to bat for discussion groups, it better be ones I find value in and can defend from an intellectual standpoint - even if I disagree with them entirely.

[–]DancesWithPugs0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

Thanks for the details. Transparency is good.

If you allow hot potato subjects like the one you mention, critics get more ammo for their smears and rants. Tricky balance sometimes.

Just out of curiosity isn't the reddit source code freely available hence building a quite similar site should be done more easily? What am I missing?

[–]Modredpillschool[S] 8 points9 points  (2 children) | Copy

I'm guessing you didn't look at the screenshots in my article- this is a source of confusion for some.

Trp.red is similar to twitter in layout and function. Some people dislike this (and that's okay). For people used to twitter, it feels pretty straightforward. But to others, it's very confusing.

The new forums will be pretty close to reddit style- complete with threaded comments. Sidebar will be in the same place as it is on reddit.

See here:

[–]3trplurker9 points10 points  (1 child) | Copy

Yeah lots of us hate twitter because it's interface encourages such short attention spans and discourages long involved discussions. I just now tried to follow a discussion there between you and that other guy and it was impossible to do.

[–]Modredpillschool[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy

I hear ya on that one. Took me a while to really get into the twitter model myself.

I don't particularly care for it, but I recognize that there is a need for it as a lot of people do like this form of broadcast-type social media.

There are some settings in each tribe that lets you nest replies underneath parent posts so it's not just a big listing of out-of-order posts. But most don't opt for that.

In the meantime I can say we are fully committed to old-style threaded comments forums just like old reddit used to. Launch will be before you know it! Looking forward to that.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy

[–]mrnuttty10 points11 points  (9 children) | Copy

Will trp red expose a public facing api to consume its content?

[–]Modredpillschool[S] 19 points20 points  (8 children) | Copy

Yes, an API is in the works. However, launching the new forums.red is taking precedent.

When the API is launched, I encourage anybody who is up to it to develop native apps!

[–]mrnuttty9 points10 points  (1 child) | Copy

That’s great, I hope the api is straightforward. Interested in any early testing of api.

[–]Modredpillschool[S] 0 points1 point  (3 children) | Copy

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

Depends on what you are using for the back-end but there are plenty libraries for that. It's good for minimizing requests and having more flexible API.

Plus, tech nerds will love it.

[–]Ravenanom0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

I second Graphql. It's so much easier and efficient than REST.

[–]ZachMeadows0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

Honestly, any tech will do as long as it has clean code and well thought out architecture.

Whether its GraphQL or REST doesn't really matter.

[–]_Icarus_Reborn_0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

I work as a Automation QA engineer, if you fellas need any QA roles or testing done. Hit me up and I'd love to lend a hand.

I'd imagine any native apps will have to side loaded, as I doubt Google and Apple would allow a TRP app to exist in its app store.

[–]Endorsed Contributormonsieurhire26 points7 points  (5 children) | Copy

The web formatting on the "old" reddit is FAR superior to the new formatting, which is a big barrel of dog-shit.

I imagine that some authoritarian billionaires planted a few moles in reddit with the idea of sabotaging it by fucking with the layout, amongst other things, like endlessly banning people and deleting content, shadow-banning, etc.

I mean, why is that even necessary, when there are other, more democratic solutions like having individual users hide content they don't like if they don't like the user.

I have also noticed that Facebook is assfucking event planners by hiding all the non-friends who are attending an event! One of the main incentives to go to public events is to meet attractive people, so if you hide all of them, it disincentivizes people from attending.

Ironically, some women agree, but for different reasons; one woman wrote that she liked knowing all the attendees, so that she could avoid some guy she didn't like. That was her strategy for dealing with a creep: avoidance. I have told women before, that all they have to do is be assertive with creeps. Just be firm, and say no. I get women complaining about creeps sending unsolicited messages on Facebook... but all they have to do is say "I'm not interested and won't be responding to any future communications, and will be blocking you now," hit the block button and the guy will go pester someone else.

The web formatting on the "old" reddit is FAR superior to the new formatting,

It looks like one of those spastic wordpress blogs that 90% of marketing departments use now for their corporate websites. It's all real estate and no information. You have to hunt to find something to actually read. It's retarded.

Told a sales guy a couple months ago: "No, I'm not going to waste my time on a call with you because after spending 15 minutes on your website I still have no idea what the hell you do." He was flabbergasted.

those of you that try to 'keep politics out of this' or say 'both sides do blah blah' are delusional. The right is not trying to ban speech - the left is. This is a political issue.

[–]TheGweatandTewwible0 points1 point  (2 children) | Copy

While this is mostly correct the bigger picture here is that the left and the right are both sides of the same coin. The elite/globalists/puppet masters, whatever you wanna call them, are the ones pulling the strings to sow division amongst the people. Just look at how badly the Federal Reserve is fucking the U.S. over and how that influences everything in the country, including politics.

[–]StarchRunner5 points6 points  (1 child) | Copy

Centralization is a really hard trap to get out of. The value of a network grows exponentially with the number of users, according to Metcalfe's law.

Back in the 80s and 90s, we had Usenet which could have been considered a pre-Reddit Reddit but more with the current freewheeling of 4chan, in that interests all got their own board and not much censorship. But it was not as centralized (although seperate universities could ban hosting specific boards) and so much freeer.

Since we got the www enabling http browsers (what you're using now), domains and all that basically encouraged a very corporate internet since the late 90s leading to eBay, Amazon, Yahoo and then Google.

Anyway, I don't have a good solution other than to keep passing the knowledge on in multiple mediums. The core of it is as old as time and will survive in one fashion or another.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (3 children) | Copy

I'm not very keen on seeing others adopting the "redpill" because they often distort it to things that are not really counter-culture or just represent another side of the same coin.

Besides that, I also hope that the alternative forums take off since the meat of this community, the guys who needs help, still are here.

[–]OnceNamed7 points8 points  (2 children) | Copy

The red pill isn't counter culture at all. It's our culture as it acts rather than how it speaks about itself.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy

Good point.

[–]TheGweatandTewwible0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

That's actually a very good point. But I'd argue it still is counter-culture in the sense of it not being filtered and PC, which IS the culture right now.

Posting 2/27/2020. Something is seriously wrong. My little post from this morning has no upvotes or comments. That's fine by me, whatever. The point is that little post with no attention is still sitting at the top of TRP. Top of hot, new, whatever. Simply because there aren't any other posts! And from two days back there are a bunch labeled (repost). Very little else. In a sub with ONE POINT SEVEN MILLION subscribers. I know subs less than half the size that are busy all day and all night with new posts and comments. Some of the subscribers to TRP maybe just wanted to join the club and feel a little more masculine by clicking a button, or had a passing interest. That doesn't account for the massive discrepency.

I respect the efforts to build an alternate platform for TRP but it still seems kinda small and drama focused. Today was mostly GLO arguing with some tool on the main thread. GLO wants to open a substitute for university and lambasts people for their ignorance, yet doesn't give a fuck about spelling. If standards come from the top then be the standard, dude.

There's only so many ways to say 'go lift' and repeat the sidebar. Yet I have seen some genius level conversations about the fine points (including GLO in that, no disrespect). That's drying up.

Otherwise between the admin censorship fuckery and whatever other reasons this place is shrinking fast.
