I'm surely not the only one who thinks promise rings are a bit of a slap in the face, right? To me, a promise ring is a cheap ring that says "I love you, but not enough to marry you" or "I'll string you along until I find someone better, but in the meantime I'll waste the best years of your life". It's kind of like a man marking his "territory" to prevent her from finding a hvm. It seems like a token cheap gift one gives when a woman has had it up to here with a man, so he spends like $80 (if that) to keep her strung along. It's almost like a ring that a boyfriend gives you in highschool because his fast food job doesn't pay enough for a real engagement ring (not that anyone should be getting engaged in highschool). To me, it's low effort and low value.

You have my bit on promise rings, what's your take, ladies? Have you ever been offered one?
