Reasons this is written by a male:

1) this isn't an unpopular opinion or controversial, most women don't report because of fear.

2) it sounds more like she's trying to convince other women not to report

3) women rape victims would not go onto a male majority, incel subreddit to speak about this.

4) "it was only hard for one day" and then she magically forgot about it and moved past being raped. I'm surprised he didn't end it with "im just happy I was raped and not falsely accused which is waaaay worse"

OP says she came out fine but seems to have issues with sleep, allows her husband to cheat on her to which there was a child as a result to which she states she will not leave, she allows her husband to emotionally abuse her. These are all tell-tell signs of someone who has experienced trauma. These people are more likely to accept mistreatment, and have issues with walking away. Deep down they believe no one will want them due to the impact. I think OP is trying to convince herself that the rape was not a big deal.

But a healthy well functioning woman who experience rape 1. Doesn't stay in an abusive relationship 2. Doesn't hide their pain 3. Doesn't sleep with a man who slept with someone else (breaking their vows to you) and having a child (putting your body at risk). OP has issues, and she won't admit to any of it. In her life but also deep inside.

Her husband acting like a child when she doesn't give him sex. <--- Here she never says she will leave him just says she usually gives him sex why is he upset.

Her saying she slept 14 hours and posting in a subreddit for people with a rare sleeping disorder <---This is very odd because she has a 1-2 year old. No way she can sleep more than 60 percent of the day with a toddler she is def depressed

Her saying she won't/never told anyone her husband cheated on her and had a baby <--- She has more than a 1/2 dozen post about this.

Op saying she cannot stand seeing photos of herself <--- She says "I don’t like to see photos of myself or anything really from before."

Op saying she cries due to staying with her husband <--- Says she puts spoons over her eyes so nobody will notice she cries

OP is also a huge pro-lifer, and often demeans other women for their choice. So I think it is fair to say OP has a messed up life, and cannot even process her trauma because she is in a shitty marriage, she sleeps most of her days away, she is minding the business of other women's pussies, and she cries all the time because she doesn't want to leave her husband. OP didn't report and that's fine, in my opinion it is the woman's choice. However, OP is totally pushing her trauma down and it is expressing itself in her life and actions. Poor thing.

Women don't not report rape because we're "embarassed" to talk about sex, I've never heard this as a reason from anyone. Its more like, were traumatized, confused, maybe haven't accepted that we WERE raped, and are scared of not being believed. Add to that, the "oh it was hard for 1 day, itd be so much worse if I did report it" comes off as this poster trying to convince women its wrong to report sexual assault. Majority of rape victims don't report, how the hell is this a "hot take" on reddit? Oh yeah, because mens fears of rape accusations are treated more seriously than actual rapes.

Not supporting the upvotes, but she shouldn’t be blamed for making the decision not to report. Women have a lot to risk by reporting. Their relative peace and anonymity, reputation, sometimes their career and future livelihood and their safety. It’s so sad and unjust that women are not believed and face so much backlash for reporting something that a criminal cruelly did to them, but being raped is so traumatizing and if this is her way to moving on, I understand and only wish her the best.

Edit: After reading some of the other comments, I guess I forgot that people larp on the internet. I just read it as a woman who is maybe a little in denial and just desperately trying to get past the experience, because I am a normal empathetic person who assumes that no one would a impersonate a woman who got raped. Why the hell would some guy write this? It’s so despicable.

I sympathize with this view.

I worked at a suicide hotline and sometimes we'd get calls from abused women.

I don't think it's as easy as "just report it".

It's understandably traumatic and some women want to put it behind them immediately. I'd like to remind everyone on this subreddit that this subreddit advises women not to share details about past abuse with romantic partners for a reasons that can overlap with why you wouldn't want to share with others.

I don't judge women for not wanting to confront their abuse.

I believe this was written by a woman. And if it's not, I still agree that a woman is allowed to feel afraid to confront the social and legal ramifications of being a victim.

I 1000% support women who want to out their abusers, but I don't want to condemn women who are fearful of it either.

I don't this that was an argument for not reporting rape overall, more of a personal experience with rape and a choice of not reporting one despite the popular (and justified) suggestion to do so. And what he/she talks about is something many rape victims experience, have exerienced. There's a complete lack of trust in the system and society to handle reports of rape.

The conclusion here should be - to make extreme changes in the way reporting is handled as of today.

The posts on that sub also get upvoted for being unpopular, so theres that I suppose, not necessarily support.

The whole 'got over it' bit is kind of weird. I haven't heard people talk about such experience like this. Unless this has happened recently and she/he is still in a state of denial coping mechanism and shock. The realization can set like a slap in the face much later.

Regardless, reporting as a victim is to also maximize the potential of safety for both you and other current/future victims. It's an extremely excruciating process, but one that is so important and potentially life saving.

At the very least you would think the days she had to be tested for disease or pregnancy or get the morning after pill would also be hard days. This was not written by a person who was raped.
