I don't know what to do anymore.

This is the third week in a row that I've had a man completely disappear on me hours before our first date. No text, no "sorry, I can't make it out," just unmatching on the app and disappearing. I know that individually, each one of these might have had something going on personally, but as a trend, I just don't know what is wrong with me.

The only reason I bother with app dating is because I absolutely can't compete in real life - I'm not deformed but my face just is not conventionally attractive and I live in a city where the dating market is considerably stacked against women. I'm fit and slender and I keep my hair blonde and wear a full face of makeup daily, but I'm short and just very plain in the face, and don't have much of a "bombshell" body type (I lift weights and am in shape, but am very pear-shaped with wide hips/thick thighs and small breasts). I have never in my life been hit on by a stranger in the wild. I am simply not conventionally attractive and expecting to meet someone out in the world is not an option.

So I swipe, and I swipe, and I swipe... but for every match I get (already rare), it's even rarer that I get a message back when I reach out, and on the rarest occasion that it escalates to a date... ghosted. Hours before. I just want to cry. I feel so worthless. I'm 25 and I'm going to hit the wall so soon and I wasted my early twenties with an emotionally abusive man who dumped me after I supported him all the way through acting school.

But I digress. Does anyone have any ideas or advice? I've tried changing my photos, have gotten new ones and rotated through every flattering picture of me that exists. I feel like I'm maxing out on my self-improvement potential, save for a couple things I'm having trouble with (my hair is mostly shoulder-length but I had an unfortunate accident that resulted in the top layer essentially being chopped off at my crown and turned into a mullet - don't ever get near small children with scissors while you've got your hair in a half-up ponytail - and my stylist tried to blend it as best she could but I'm horribly self-conscious about it, and when it grows out a bit longer I can't wait to get it evened out, so all of this is to say that my hair won't be long for quite a while). I'm truly doing the best I can with my appearance. I'm not bothersome or mouthy - my ex-boyfriend did do a good job teaching me not to express opinions when they're contradictory to a partner or date's - and I try so hard to be warm and feminine and inoffensive and lovely. But it's like I'm wallpaper.

What am I doing wrong? How can I fix this?
