Marital fraud, including adultery, according to the article. Not just a "history."

[–]chaun2 96 points97 points98 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Same mealy-mouthed shit they pull when a female teacher rapes their students. They refuse to admit in any way that women make up ≈ 50% of criminals

[–]Dembara 11 points12 points13 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The article title is actually clearer, the original New York Daily article (which is where the mail gets their info from) is even clearer. It was just confusing phrasing on OP's part.

[–]slice73 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

OT: I love the phrase "mealy-mouthed" You used it perfectly! I don't hear it enough these days

[–]boundarychimps 115 points116 points117 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Interesting. That's the page title (that shows up in say the browser title bar), but the on page title / heading is:

Spinal surgeon divorces his beauty queen wife because she 'led a secret life as a high-end hooker earning $700,000'

Which is rather different from "oh there's some old history I didn't know about".

That latter being what I'd initially expected to find in the article, with my initial thoughts on it being "what, you mean like the beauty pageants?". Because I'm pretty sure those count as part of the spectrum of sex work.

As I said in another comment:

Same mealy-mouthed shit they pull when a female teacher rapes their students. They refuse to admit in any way that women make up ≈ 50% of criminals

[–]mich2110 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Usually that happens because they changed the title after publication --- my guess is someone complained and/or the editor noticed how misleading it was

[–]ChaosOpen 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

We're talking about dailymail, their bread and butter is misleading click-bait titles.

[–]MillennialDan 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What? Not sure what you mean with that last part.

[–]PleasedEnterovirus 89 points90 points91 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

[–]nick012000 16 points17 points18 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Well, I'm sure he'll be able to find another girl who'd look about as good and might actually be faithful to him, assuming that his hooker ex-wife doesn't divorce rape him.

Dude is like the love interest of a romance novel: strong, smart, attractive, super-wealthy... he's basically a 10/10 for the vast majority of women.

Point to be noted

[–]igloohavoc 26 points27 points28 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I mean Beauty is a Rapidly Depreciating Asset, she was making her money off her looks which everyone knows has an expiration date. Looking at the situation from a business perspective, I too would want to end the marriage contract given she was providing her services to others at a much lower rate.

I mean imagine the kind of yearly up keep marrying her would be, not to mention the windfall from a divorce. It costs the surgeon way more money in the long run.

“Loss of face” is a common concept in many Asian countries which roughly means the loss of respect one gets from society/family. Marrying a prostitute is one thing, but the real loss of face is being tricked/duped/lied to by the prostitute. The surgeon was suckered/conned by someone who has less education . Education is highly prized/respected in most Asian countries and to be duped by someone like her would imply perhaps, he is also a fool in other aspects of his life.

[–]nick012000 23 points24 points25 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Let's be honest, though - marrying a 10/10 superhot doctor millionaire would have been a lot more profitable for her than working as a hooker and earning merely a few hundred thousand dollars. She married "the perfect man", and she still wasn't satisfied!

[–]igloohavoc 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

True, from her perspective marrying doctor millionaire was a sound move. She could have coasted through life, but instead she wanted to keep sleeping with other men while married. So she screwed the pooch on that

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

He would’ve saved a lot of $ being her “client” rather then her husband. At least with the airing of her dirty laundry he might dodge the alimony/maintenance of her “standard of living”. The lawyer knows if the money has to be spent it’s better spent on legal fees then a soon to be ex wife. Another man into the meat grinder as the colosseum applauds smh

[–]401kisfun 16 points17 points18 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Not a big deal gentlemen. There is a wide spectrum of women who have given it up for cash, that are not hookers/call girls per se, they don’t advertise online or anything. But HOLY moly the price these guys spent on HER?!?

[–]ryandiy 10 points11 points12 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I know, right?! For $10k you can have sex with 100 different "entertainers" in Tijuana. And many of them are hotter than this woman.

[–]Dr__Unicorn 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

How much tax did she pay on that $700,000 "earnings"?

Don’t date a stupid beauty queen. Date another doctor or a lawyer. Someone of your caliber. You want you kids to be raised by that kind of woman? Think about humanities future. Even Jane Austen with think this guy made a dumb decision. She said a relationship is 50% love 50% can you run an effective household/family unit together.

[–][deleted] 21 points22 points23 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

At the end of the day, looks matter. Guys want the hottest chicks out there. Women want the most loaded men. It's a high speed crash waiting to happen.

[–]qtyapa 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

This girl got the loaded man but still hoed her way.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

A lot of women lie about their past. One minute they fuck every guy they see, the next they behave like a good housewife when they know the guy is loaded and they know it's their chance to settle down and get married.

I think most of these model types have done some sort of sex work along the way. When I worked in the porn industry, a lot of models would spend at least a month in the industry, whether it was amateur or professional.

How is he smart enough to be a surgeon but dumb enough to bet his assets and life that this relationship would work, knowing the statistical likelihood that it won’t?

Why get the government involved in your love life?

[–]FrederickWarner 65 points66 points67 points 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

I didn’t read the article but the title says “after” so he didn’t know when he married her? And why is this being put on the man anyway? She’s the one who did the sex work

He alleged that Turner misled him about other details of her past, including that she had studied science at the University of Connecticut for three years before leaving to compete in the Miss USA pageant, New York Daily News reported, adding that Dr. Kim's papers state that Turner had never graduated high school.

In the court documents, Dr. Kim reportedly alleged that his wife pretended to be out with friends while actually engaging in sex work and also claimed she had to make frequent weeks-long works trips to China relating to a clothing app she was developing*,' New York Daily News reported.*

'In fact such travel was in connection with defendant's provision of sexual services in exchange for money,' the paper reported the court documents as saying.

Because like a lot of men, they let their dicks and emotions do all the thinking for them. They don't believe that the girl they landed would ever cheat on them.

He saw a beautiful woman and thought it would work out like most men think. They only realize later on that they fucked up. I've seen it happen too many times. ''This time it will be different'' as the saying goes.

Because that’s not how intelligence works.

[–]staytrue1985 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Being a surgeon doesnt require innovation or discovery or critical thinking skills.

It involves a hell of a lot of memorization and chores and learning how to do surgery.

Both requite intelligence. Different kinds of intelligence.

Overreaction. We would have millions of divorces if the past of women would be revealed.

Also, he married a beauty queen. Seriously, didn't he know about that industry? What did he expected, a virgin?

[+]Henry_Blair -12 points-11 points-10 points 4 years ago* (4 children) | Copy Link

Unpopular opinion: 1. The problem is dishonesty, not history. 2. The history, in and of itself, is not a good reason for divorce (a quarrel on dishonesty may lead to a divorce, but then, again, it's the dishonesty rather than the subject matter that leads to a divorce). 3. Prostitutes can be wonderful women who love men and feel the freedom to comfort them on loneliness. 4. The fact that a woman was for a short while a sex worker, and assuming this happened years ago and is not expected to return, doesn't say anything about her as a person - she might be a loving wonderful woman or the exact opposite - just as any woman may be either.

[–]john_mayes 11 points12 points13 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

The title on here is misleading she was doing call work before and after they married and then started making "business" trips for a app she was developing to China for a week at a time that were actually for sex work none of which he knew she was doing before they got married or after until recently along with lying to him about others things he's going for marriage fraud and most likely adultery aswell

[–]Henry_Blair 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Oh. I would do the same then.

[–]Henry_Blair 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I also want to add that from reading women's accounts, it seems that sex work is addictive, and this might be an issue in a marriage. For some, it's very high income for very little effort in a very short time - I am referring to those who can work like the rest of us but want a shortcut to the car and house. And some, once discovering the shortcut, find it hard later in life to resist the temptation. There's an addictive dimension to sex work that is never mentioned because of the feminist dictatorship that forces every discussion to treat sex work as "oppression and endless human suffering", god forbid of saying or even hinting that many workers do it because they want to, and so the addictiveness is never brought up. But it's there for some, and this is what I would be worried about when dating someone who used to be a sex worker.

[–]Professional-Run-471 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If you want a good marriage then NEVER marry a former prostitute

[DIVORCE RISK]

“Contrary to conventional wisdom, when it comes to sex, less experience is better, at least for the marriage,” said W. Bradford Wilcox, a sociologist . women with zero or one previous sex partners before marriage were also least likely to divorce, while those with 10 or more were most likely. These divorce-proof brides are an exclusive crew: By the 2010s, he writes, just 5 percent of new brides were virgins. And just 6 percent of their marriages dissolved within five years, compared with 20 percent for most people.

Khazan, O. (2018, October 22). Fewer Sex Partners Means a Happier Marriage. The Atlantic. Retrieved July 7, 2020, from https://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2018/10/sexual-partners-and-marital-happiness/573493/ X

using data from the three most recent waves of the National Survey of Family Growth (NSFG) collected in 2002, 2006-2010, and 2011-2013. For women marrying since the start of the new millennium: Women with 10 or more partners were the most likely to divorce . The highest five-year divorce rates of all are associated with marrying in the 2000s and having ten or more premarital sex partners: 33 percent. Perhaps it is not unexpected that having many partners increases the odds of divorce. Wolfinger, N. H., PhD. (2016, June 6). [T]here was a correlation between female pre-marital promiscuity and higher rates of divorce. [INFIDELITY RATES]

A truism in psychology is that the best predictor of future behavior is past behavior. This is no less true in the realm of sexual behavior. Indeed, one of the strongest predictors of marital infidelity is one’s number of prior sex partners (Buss, 2000). Deception about past sexual promiscuity would have inflicted greater costs, on average, on men than on women

Haselton, M. G., Buss, D. M., Oubaid, V., & Angleitner, A. (2005). Sex, Lies, and Strategic Interference: The Psychology of Deception Between the Sexes. Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, 31(1), 3–23. https://doi.org/10.1177/0146167204271303 X

Contrary to the myth, partners who’ve had many partners have a harder, not easier, time remaining monogamous. They are significantly more at risk of straying than those with little or no prior sexual experience.

Staik, A., PhD. (2019, March 28). 10 Predictors of Infidelity and Gender Differences: Why Do Partners Cheat? Retrieved July 15, 2020, from https://blogs.psychcentral.com/relationships/2014/08/a-look-at-infidelity-why-do-partners-cheat/ X

[A]pproximately half of women in the top quintiles of sociosexuality [def. willingness to engage in sexual activity outside of a committed relationship] had been sexually unfaithful to a steady partner; this was more than a tenfold increase over the corresponding rate for people in the bottom quintiles.

Bailey, J. M., Kirk, K. M., Zhu, G., Dunne, M. P., & Martin, N. G. (2000). Do individual differences in sociosexuality represent genetic or environmentally contingent strategies? Evidence from the Australian twin registry. Journal of personality and social psychology, 78(3), 537–545. https://doi.org/10.1037//0022-3514.78.3.537 X

Individuals exhibiting sexually permissive attitudes and those who have had a high number of past sexual relationships are more likely to engage in infidelity (Feldman & Cauffman, 1999). In a study of supposedly exclusive dating couples, it was found that individuals exhibiting an ‘unrestricted’ sociosexual orientation (SO) were significantly more likely to pursue extra-pair involvement (Seal, Agostinelli, & Hannett, 1994). Individuals are said to be unrestricted if they score high on the Sociosexual Orientation Index (SOI). Items on this scale include a question tapping whether the respondent feels that love is a prerequisite for sexual relations with a partner, the number of ‘one-night stands’ a respondent has had, and how many partners he or she hopes to have in the next year (Simpson & Gangestad, 1991).

In illustration of this, the odds ratio of 1.13 for lifetime sexual partners obtained with the face-to-face mode of interview indicates that the probability of infidelity increased by 13% for every additional lifetime sexual partner . Regarding the correlates of infidelity, results indicated that on the basis of both methods of assessment, the probability of sexual infidelity increased with higher number of lifetime sexual partners

Our findings demonstrate that infidelity and number of sexual partners are both under moderate genetic influence (41% and 38% heritable, respectively) and the genetic correlation between these two traits is strong (47%). The resulting genetic correlation between the two traits was .47, so nearly half the genes impacting on infidelity also affect number of sexual partners. The correlation of the unique environment between the two variables was .48.

The high correlation for females (r = .79) between reported numbers of sex partners and EPC partners [extra-pair copulation partners def. sexual partners other than primary partner while in a monogamous relationship] may bear on questions of both paternity and abandonment in the face of infidelity. . [P]romiscuity is in fact a good predictor of infidelity. Indeed, promiscuity among females accounted for almost twice as much variance in infidelity (r2 = .45) as it did for males (r2 = .25).

Sexual promiscuity was significantly positively correlated with emotional promiscuity [r(356) = .261, p < .001], as well with sexual infidelity [r(323) = .595, p < .001] and emotional infidelity [r(323) = .676, p < .001], indicating that sexually promiscuous participants also tend to be emotionally promiscuous, and sexually and emotionally unfaithful. In terms of the sexual domain, results showed that there is also a positive correlation between sexual promiscuity and sexual infidelity, stating that individuals that tend to be more sexually promiscuous also tend to be more sexually unfaithful.

For people in this survey who reported four or fewer lifetime sexual partners, the rate of infidelity in the current marriage dropped to 11%, while for those who had five or more sexual partners the number was nearly double . [I]nfidelity is also often the fruit of a lifelong approach to mating that involves seeking and practicing short-term mating encounters that encourage sexual variety at all stages and into marriage.

There's nothing inherently repugnant about being a sex worker; the problem here is that she lied about it and continued doing it after her marriage.

He's complaining that he paid more, that is all. Lots of poseurs on here coping that this is surprising.

I guess he's cutting her out...

Would be interesting how this ends. There have been so many injustices. Like that one article about a man and girlfriend. They weren't living together nor had any children yet STILL ended up paying alimony (maybe it had something to do with a female judge presiding? we'll never know.)

Men always want the prettiest, youngest woman they can tolerate. There is nothing wrong with that. Being against that is feminism.

Well ,i do agree that past is not everything and judging girls solely on their past is wrong but ,she not only cheated, but also hids so much from his husband. I sympathize, with this guy . But ,most people in comment section are just being dick about it.

[–]SpaceGecko47 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

The headline is misleading af. In the actual text it is stated she kept on being a hooker throughout their whole mariage. So she was cheating on him for a few bucks

[–]zaderexpri 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Agree ,the guy here is the clear victim, and those who claim otherwise are clearly mentally screwed or misandrist. But ,i hate how people in comment section are digging this opportunity to make fun of him or girls with bad past.

Hundred percent with you on this. In this case she is a hoe and that's the end to it, but no need to bring other people into it. Just because this woman is terible and she is a sex worker, doesn't mean all sex workers are evil

Ya ,or other girls or boys with bad history, it's like a terrible way to generalise.
