So there is this girl in my college who I had a thing for. I think she looks quite good, not 10/10 hot but good. She has a boring personality, and brings no value to the table that I can’t get elsewhere. I have been lucky to have had a lot of partners my first being in 7th grade.

She texts me for academic advice, career path advice and general venting about how her friends mistreat her. This is because I am at the top of my class in every subject. I help her where possible and listen to her rant about how her friends mistreat her. I have made it clear that i like her in a romantic way, since I don’t think it aligns with my moral compass to mislead women into getting into bed with you.

As many men here may have done, during the phase where it isn’t clear whether she likes you back, you tend to treat her special; how you’d treat your girlfriend or a woman you loved. Yesterday she made it clear that, “ I like you as a friend.”

I told her that i respect her wishes and will not make further advances or attempts to flirt. Which I won’t because harassing or trying to coerce women is also against my moral compass. I also made it clear that i treat my crushes/girlfriends differently from how i treat my friends. This is where shit got real.

She got hurt, and wanted me to treat her as i have been. I told her that not much would change, i just wouldn’t ask her out on dates or flirt with her and so far i drop whatever i am doing to answer her texts or help her, from now on I will answer immediiately if im not busy with studies or other personal/family obligations.

Am I in the wrong for respecting her boundaries but also expecting her to respect mine?
