I don't get all this "insert race here" disproportionate shit. White men(non hispanic) make up 31 percent of the population, of course a lot of fields are going to have way more white men in them. I never see this stat applied to minorities. 75 percent of the NBA for example is black, but black males only make up 6 percent of the population.

Just my two cents but you’ve never heard a song about “F**k the Fire Department”. As a black man we have no beef with them. I know its not the point you guys are upset about the attack on “why this needs to change” but just saying thanks to the amazing men and women who do put their lives on the like in a manner that genuinely helps people. White black whatever. Thanks to all firefighters. We never took a knee against you. Keep up the good work, and anytime i see you guys with the boots out on my local corner trying to raise funds ive got a crispy $5 bill for ya.

Are white men more likely to be strong fearless people who risk their lives on a daily basis while trying not to get incinerated?

Or are they saying that women and not-white men are cowards who don't care about anyone but themselves?

If Fire Departments are discriminating against qualified applicants and personnel then sue them but discouraging white men from becoming fire fighters as this kind of study is wont to do with shame is not a good plan. It's funny that two people interviewed one black and one gay are both captains in their departments.

This study is blatant opportunism of a non-issue for sake of getting attention. Aren't there children dying of starvation this author could save?

It doesn't matter anyway, they disproportionately hire non white males. They will take a woman in a heartbeat, regardless of their abilities. Remember that famous video of the woman in training that couldn't make it over the wall? If you're a white male, getting on the team is near impossible.

Firefighters are overwhelmingly Irish. Darwin's Race Theory may have put "White people" at the top and "black people" at the bottom, but he said Irish were not humans and more akin to took using monkeys. It was also common in colonial times to hire Irish to do work too dangerous to put slaves at risk.

Finding meaning in dividing and judging people by "race" is fundamentally racist, which for the most part is entirely bullshit.

In my fire department there are some women but they mostly do ambulances and not actually fighting fires. The commander kinda let's everyone do what they are the best at. The men there happen to be better at going to burning places and looking for victims, the women there stay outside and look after those victims. Both are important.

Read the fucking article. The reason something needs to be done about that is because the way people react to emergencies vastly differ in function of race/culture and gender, and a person with a similar race and gender can assist someone better than someone who isn't.

This isn't about discriminating any white men you snowflakes.
