As a self titled feminist, I take more offense that you would think I think this statement is toxic. It is important to take a statement like this in context. This guy was born in 1911 (before women could even vote) and his views about gender roles come from this time. I can appreciate that he is giving respect to women and all the labor they provided that goes unnoticed (particularly then) and just accept it as such. Picking apart pictures or statements or anything from a different Era with a modern view of gender dynamics is always stupid in my eyes. Edit: And since this is the men's rights subreddit, let me just say that this quote is not something to be used to justify women's superiority and I don't know anyone who would take it like that. I think men and women are superior respectively in different aspects of culture, society and life in general, and throughout the majority of history I believe every culture has revered Women. whether that be revering of the female body and form in works of art (birth of Venus, Venus de milo etc.) revering of the female reproductive system (Vikings used to think menstruation could predict weather and other things about luck) females have been admired for the event of childbirth and how painful it is.in conclusion Women have always been respected and valued the extents of that value have just changed through the ages.
