Gentlemen, I wanted to share my feedback and experience dating and using apps since my stbxw left six months ago. I had decent success and was able to connect with several women.

I wanted to shake off the rust of communicating with women in a romantic setting again so i didn’t want to put any expectations or pressure on myself.

I was averaging about 3-4 likes per day, connected with about a dozen women and met 3 in person.

Instead of uploading photos, I uploaded videos of myself doing the things i was interested in, i was running outside, another of me at a semi formal event so I was dressed for a night out, another just being myself and showing off my personality, every woman said that my profile was so different which is what made them interested in me.

Don’t talk about your personal life, it’s not anyone’s business and only share it with the person you feel like you’re connecting with on a deeper level. I saved sharing my situation with someone unless I felt they were worthy of knowing that part of my life.

When I matched with a potential date, I would send a video message to the person introducing myself, I would relate to something in her profile and talk about that for 30 seconds and ask an open ended question about that topic and more often than not I’d get a response.

I was online for about 5 weeks before deleting my profile, it became too difficult to keep up with the messages, but I got enough from the experience that it boosted my confidence and made me realize that meeting women will not be a problem, so I can focus on myself and build my life the way I want to be.

I tested the waters with FB dating just to see what I was up against when the divorce is final. It was positive enough for me that I now don't worry about it if/when I choose to do it.

Because we were separated and not divorced, I approached the profile this way: I did not mention my status, I tried to make the profile interesting/funny with some pictures (no hat, no sun glasses, full body, etc. - those matter). When I matched, we would message a few times and then (if that went decent) we would trade numbers to talk. The phone conversation was the vibe check. If the call went great, the first thing I talked about on the second call was my status (some had issues with it, some didn't). I even told them that the first call was a vibe check for both of us and they all appreciated that. Btw, 55m.

I dated while I was getting my divorce, but she pursued me. It was an acquaintance that knew what I was going through. I think she was looking for another baby daddy which I was definitely not interested in being. The relationship lasted just a few months and was definitely a boost to my ego, but I knew it would never last nor did I want it to.

I’ve been dating through my divorce… but it’s not something I communicate to my spouse. We’re finalizing our divorce very soon. I’ve met some interesting people, and someone I could see a stable path forward with.

Dating while you are still cohabitating is difficult, but not impossible. I met a woman who was in a similar position and also went out with a few that weren't my type. I was similar with the emotional loneliness, so I was open to any sort of attention I could find.

Once my ex moved out, dating got a little bit easier. I took an attitude that I'd go out with any woman that would date me - so many of these dates weren't great. It helped me gain confidence and eventually I met someone amazing. The apps are hard for us and its best not to take them seriously.

For me, it was a process. Dating was so foreign, I had no idea what I was doing. I read a few books, listened to podcast, got familiar with "day game." Little by little, it all helped me meet more people.

What I think is equally as important is taking care of myself. Gym, therapy, reading, eating healthy, not drinking too much, spending time with friends, pursuing hobbies and pushing my comfort zone. Heck, I even went with a friend to a Tango class.

Are you still living together? If so, you’ll probably have to wait till you are living as a separated person. If you are, then you should be able to connect with people who understand you’re not in a relationship and your marriage is over.

I had some success! And some not interested because I was not officially divorced yet. For a bit of a timeframe, I started dating after a short hooking up phase, and that started about two weeks after my Ex said she wanted a divorce.

When I started dating before my divorce was finalized, as a newly sober alcoholic, women were FAR more reluctant to date me because of the divorce, than because I was an alcoholic.

Guys who are just looking for sex from an attractive woman do not care about ex husbands or kids. They are much more common to find for women than for a man to find women interested in the same.

I do agree listing myself as separated reduces the interest but I too am compelled to be forthcoming. My divorce is not final but very close. I am seeing a woman who seems more interested in the now and not the past. A month in and enjoying the experience. Do what makes you happy 😎

The only thing that will kill your self esteem faster than a divorce is a dating app.
