When they were little, dad was awesome, goofy, fun, etc... Now that my two girls are a bit older (12 and 15), not so much, they typically come to my house and just hang out in their rooms on their device or phone. Might see them for a couple hours for lunch and dinner, but then they disappear. My son(10) constantly asks to hang out, whether it's video games, watching a movie or show, hanging out with me or near me, etc... I feel I don't divide my attention evenly at times, but the girls simply seem to be content in their bubbles- and if they do come out tell me they're bored.. However when I ask what they want to do, it's typically, go shopping, take me to get a coffee, or some other money involved activity. Personally, me taking them to the mall to shop is not really my idea of bonding, It's them trying to get dad to buy them frivolous material things. I think I'm just having a hard time finding quality things to do with them lately. We used to watch movies together and hang out, and we still do that sometimes, but something's definitely changed over the past few months. Any ideas are welcome.
