Early 40s and I'm ready to call it a day on my marriage. What holds me back is what life will be like post divorce. I don't have a lot of money and probably less after it's all done. I'm completely good with the idea of living in a "cheap" condo (the cheap ones are over $250k for a no bedroom studio where I live so it's going to be bad). What I'm nervous about is dating. A lot has changed in the 15 years since I was single. The way I used to meet women isn't really an option anymore. I'm not into the club scene, bars not so much either. It used to be, it was easy to go to a bar full of single guys and girls early 20s and shoot my shots, I used to love flirting with and getting dates with the girls at a tanning salon but now I'm just the old guy. Apps don't excite me I just hear horror stories. I've become so isolated from my friends that meeting through friend groups isn't viable.

Sure I'm not Brad Pitt but I'm not the ugliest guy either, I get compliments from time to time, been called cute more than once this year alone. And I can flirt with the best of them. I'm sociable but definitely have let my friends fall away. How do I find people worth my time?

I'm good being alone for a while but I don't want to end up like some of my older friends. Mid 50s living with their mom... I love my mom with all my heart but no thanks. Already in therapy trying to learn from my mistakes, grow and be better. I want to rebuild my life, become a better person than I am right now and share that with someone I can grow old with, become best friends with. I'm just scared I'll never find them.
