Anyone else gets turned off by picky eaters?

I usually give people three things that they just can’t stand eating, no questions asked. When it goes beyond that I find them incredibly boring and immature.

I once went on a date with a guy to a sushi place. Once we got there he informed me he had never had sushi and wasn’t sure if he could stomach the idea of eating raw fish. I pointed out that curry was on the menu so he could get that. He had never had curry before and wanted me to explain in detail what was in it and what it tasted like. He ended up eating plain ass rice. I was so appalled.

YES! I went on a first date with a guy who decided to admit that he hates all fruit and veg and only eats beige food. Safe to say we didn’t meet again!

Yes it’s a huge turn off for me, which is why I usually prefer if they pick the restaurant we eat at in the beginning so I can gauge their taste. And I definitely ask food related questions to make sure I don’t accidentally end up with one of those. Like what do they like, what do they not like, what’s their favorite dish to cook, eat, etc. I also don’t like men who can’t cook.

I love to cook and I love trying new food. Someone with an open mind and palate is a must for me.

Serious comment.... I have the palate of an 8 year old..... I can see how it is annoying... How do I stop being like this? Usually when I want to eat, it always has to be something I feel like eating like that doesn’t even make sense. Usually it’s not what I have in the house and I spend so much money eating out.....

There might be some legit reasons for picky eating-- dietary restrictions, religious restrictions, food allergies/sensitivities, limited exposure to a variety of foods due to upbringing, etc.. Although, picky eating might also signify that a person lacks curiosity, lacks a desire for intellectual pursuits, and/or lacks a desire to learn about other cultures.
Some people's aversion to certain types of restaurants baffle me... for example, someone who is scared to eat sushi at a sushi place could probably try shrimp tempura or hibachi steak and survive.
Some dudes have this weird attitude that anything outside of "cheeseburgers, fried chicken, steak and potatoes" is un-masculine somehow. I'd give a hard NO to any dude like that.

I met a few times with a guy some time ago and one evening I suggested we could have Dinner together around 21.30 because I had not eaten yet. He acted all shocked and asked " so late??? But it better be a salad then" and I just thought dude, you and me, this won't work.

Yesss. Im a vegetarian. I don't judge if people eat meat, but you can't imagine how many dudes I've found who judged me because I ate fruits and vegetables. Like wtf. Those are 2 really big important food groups.

I’m a foodie and I bake a LOT and this behavior is non negotiable for me.

Thankfully my husband is just as good at cooking as I am. :) and he might even be more adventurous!

I met a lot of idiots with all kinds of annoying attitudes and some were snobbish about food but I never encountered a grown man with the taste of an 8 year old. This really sounds like an Anglo thing. And yes, a man who asks for fries and ketchup because he doesn't want to try what he doesn't know would be a 100% dealbreaker

Can relate. I’m a big foodie and not a picky eater at all. I especially love ethnic foods. I prefer to find someone who has similar interests in food.

I once went out with a guy who would be fine having steak and potatoes for every meal and I thought I was going crazy.

It would be a big turn off for me, as I love to cook and especially enjoy cooking Indian and other ethnic dishes. I live in a pretty homogenous (white) area and so most of the guys I meet have never had a poke bowl and can’t pronounce pho, etc. The only think I really hate is raw onions, and they’ll tell me to grow up over that when the only vegetable most of them eat in a day is the lettuce on their sub. They don’t like Chinese, Thai, sushi, etc. They want Applebee’s and sandwiches and burgers. My stomach ends up a wreck with some of these guys. No wonder many of them look so much worse than women their age. They eat what they want, being selfish creatures, while women try harder to eat healthier even if it means not enjoying our food a lot of the time. If I’m going to try, I want a man who is willing to, too. I can’t just eat shitty delicious food all day. There are consequences.

Me. There is nothing I won't eat. I need a man who can keep up. If it's one or two things, it's fine. But when they are ridiculously picky, I can't.

I cannot date someone who is a picky eater...I dated a vegetarian once and it was okay because we lived in a large city with TONS of options. But someone who won't try new things or can't eat spicy foods.. is kind of a deal breaker...I think being open to trying new foods is a commentary on how open minded a person is and I'm all about that.

I will literally eat anything and try anything at least once. I'd like someone I'm dating to be the same so we can share food or get a bunch of things to try.

I've never encountered this trait but I'm sure I wouldn't like it. I went on a date the other day to a nice restaurant and the guy kept acting like the new york steak wasn't good enough for him. That was a turn off.
