I think stuff like this should be autobanned. There has been a lot of strange stuff on this subreddit recently, including a horrible account of literal JOHNS AND THEIR DESCRIPTIONS. Why the hell would we need to see that? Sometimes I think people are posting sensationalist things for ulterior motives instead of the benefit of actually helping women.
[–]FluffandRainclouds10 points 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
I see where you're coming from and respect if you don't want to view the content. For me, I think it is important to have (restrained) reminders of male depravity like the Johns and the warnings about NVM seeing single moms on OLD to access children.
My view is, obviously not all men. But, vetting much be continuous. We only have so much proof how "good" a man is when he wants to sleep with us. When they tell you the worst right away, it's a gift. The slick ones can hide for months. It only takes a little bit of NVM's charm and Pickme's shaky boundaries for disaster to happen.
ETA: It is very easy for some of us to feel biased/expect the best of intentions when we see clean-cut handsome lads. Add in the Disney narratives little girls are fed while boys have often been unsupervised on the internet. In women, it is lauded as a Virtue to "see the best in everyone" and "bitchy" to be suspicious of men sometimes. We need to channel the self-protective energy. If you see these glaring signs and ways they can manifest subtly in NVM (such as the stare), you can detect even subtler ways out in the wild. FDS necessitates survival before dating.

I disagree. That stuff is strange and it puts me in a bad mood. I am starting to feel like I'm exposed to MORE male depravity on this subreddit and that is the last thing I want.

I respect that. You can also look at posts by tags to avoid "Male Depravity" and the others. Take what helps and leave the rest

The title mostly draws attention to the mother, not the monster.
[–]emmgdacPickmeisha™️[S] 261 points262 points263 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
It does because the mother will always be blamed for what a manster does.

Unfortunately, this is how helping professionals typically interpret ba.ttered women's shock and paralysis.
In this case the mom may truly be psychopathic but headlines often play on the same clichés regardless.

enablers are just as bad. she did nothing when she could have done everything. society judges women harsher - it is undeniable - however, she put her desire to be in a relationship at all costs, even at the cost of her child's life. there's a limit and she just went overboard. no amount of woobification will mend her lack of action. she stayed and watched? did she ignore the child's cries? she is either insane or too deep in cockholm syndrome.
-
she helped bury the body and kept quiet for a month, ffs. true, she might have been scared but the ultimate reason she gave to the police was not her safety, her children's safety or anything remotely signifying of empathy. she told the police the reason was that she wanted to be in a relationship with the man who abused her kid.
[–]IronsculptureFDS Newbie 10 points11 points12 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Enablers are definitely bad, but they're not "just as bad". Let's not forget who, or what, committed homicide here.
If you remove the enabler, murder still happens, if you remove the murderer, it doesn't.

Do you have a link to the article? I'm curious where that "too eager" quote came from. Was it her confession, the prosecution's opening remarks, some rando commenting to a reporter, or elsewhere?

Based on the full "Law & Crime" article linked within your link, it sounds like she made no effort to report to murder until she confessed to her mother who called the police. She and her husband thought they could get away with the murder by secretly burying the boy in a remote location. However, based on the husband's psychopathic facial expression, I wouldn't be surprised if she were afraid of what he could have done to her had she intervened.
One of the toxic comments says "Sadly, this is not an unusual situation..Useless breeders have children for checks, and give no phucks about them! Their need for DnA, out weights their maternal instinct."
There's not enough information from the article to know if she was being heartless. Maybe she was? But I cannot put aside the possibility that she was scared shitless of the man.

Unfortunately, this is when women in such relationships or women with a pick-me-mindset become dangerous, which is exactly why we need places like FDS- no one should ever find themselves in this position.
Maybe she is cold hearted (and what she did is certainly inexcusable and unacceptable), but probably because she got used to the violence from this man and now she is traumatized and numb inside.
Those women are manipulated, traumatized and too scared to do anything. They are violated and threatened with even more violence. I also cannot believe how victim blamers announce that her want for a baby is bigger than maternal instincts when what actually happened is reproductive coercion.

I agree, I do think she was also scared
[–]bombas-Pickmeisha™️ 128 points129 points130 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
This is horrifying.
And I also think it’s important to keep the outrage focused on the monster who beat a child to death.
Even though the temptation is to focus on the mother for not stopping it, and I’m horrified that she didn’t, she was surely afraid for her life too— because a man decided to be a murderer.

I don’t see the article, but I imagine she’s still criminally liable as being complicit in the murder. So she’ll likely do jail time.
Wouldn’t it be great if there wasn’t so much bullshit surrounding FDS with low value “but what about me” men myopically zooming in on the horrific practice of paying for dates, their too freely given sexuality, and women having standards/venting when it’s SO hard to find anyone who meets them (which often simply amounts to basic decency)?
And that there was a better focus on the overarching message that we’re looking to uplift women into having agency and make good decisions, to not make these huge sacrifices (in this case, a life) to comply with the lie that a woman needs a man, at any cost?
Because if FDS had better P/R, and thus became accepted practice, imagine the world of good it could do for women like this, while they’re locked up (and yeah, I do think she has to be for a time...the idea of being so far gone to where you can just watch a kid get beaten to death and have no justice served there is tough for me to swallow), not just sitting there and wallowing behind bars, but actually having an FDS therapist get right down to the root of this with her. So she doesn’t get out in the world and make further terrible (not necessarily criminal, but harmful to herself and/or others) decisions based on a worldview that never changed.
[–]bombas-Pickmeisha™️ 30 points31 points32 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Unfortunately FDS could never have “good PR” because the strategies here strike at the foundation of male supremacy over women.
And whenever anything threatens the dominance of a more powerful group, they’ll find a way to frame it as evil and disgusting.

I have no illusions that it’s an uphill battle, but for the sake of my radfem predecessors, suffragettes, and other women who made enormous sacrifices to gain liberties I now enjoy....I am willing to try!

I love that energy! I hope it will normalize over time, but not without a big ugly fight. Your suffragette point is spot on, have you seen those cartoons of them from the time? Portraying them as evil ugly old bitches destroying the home & family, etc etc, the same old shit it always is.

Pickmeism is dangerous. They'll betray their own children and other women for men. Think of those girlfriends complicit in serial killings.

She was acquitted of the murder despite having her daughters DNA in the trunk of the car like hair and blood.. smh.. Poor babies

This is horrible and headlines like this are awful. This mother lost her child and you know she’s going to be attacked so much for this instead of focusing the anger and outrage on the man who did it.
