I’ve heard from lots of women older than her that setting rigid expectations in this way saved their marriage, but honesty…I just don’t want to, fam. Even if you’re drawing a contract up with equal participation from the partner…is remembering your significant other’s wishes and expectations for the relationship really this hard?

What happens if someone violates the contract? Anything less than breaking up would suggest that there’s an enforcer in the relationship. Doesn’t that change the dynamic?

The biggest benefit of this is that they both wrote one, read them together and made a mashup they both agreed to. We ALL set relationship expectations (or lack there of) from the beginning. While the entirety is not in alignment with FDS, it’s still high level communication between two people, and something they both agreed to, which is far more than most early 20-somethings do before starting a relationship. So, even if they aren’t each other’s “forever”, I believe the outcome of the experience of being very intentional about a relationship will be a net positive.

Yeah, she’s the ultimate pickme. Their first “date” was a dog walk, it’s “not feasible” for him to pay for her “meals that aren’t a date” so she’ll venmo him, and in her outlined expectations for the relationship she’s essentially love bombing him with way too much, way too soon. Desperately clinging to her idea of the perfect relationship, bob-the-builder-ing this guy to fit her mold. All this time and effort and emotional labor after TWO WEEKS.

This reminds of the movie called, “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before”, when Lara Jean writes a contract with her fake bf at the time. This must be like what the adult version looks like.

You realize that she’s basically giving him a cheat sheet, and he’s a fool if he messes up. I think the first thing the guy is going to do is look for loopholes in the contract. 🤷🏻‍♀️
