I love her. I've talked myself out of so many red flags because of the enabling she mentions. I definitely come from a narcissistic family, and I hear my parents voice telling me to not be difficult, don't ask for things, give them a chance they have a hard time, etc 🤦‍♀️ It led me to outsource my decision to some friends who proved to be bad influences -because they could be impartial right? Aw geez. Embracing my black-sheepness has been the best thing for my self esteem. It's far easier to let go of other people's opinions on what I should do, if I embrace that I will always be the disappointing child, no matter what I choose.

I liked when she explained that criticizing someone for having high standards is a way of keeping them in their place. Like, ‘who do you think YOU are, setting boundaries and keeping your standards high?” ...as if you don’t have the right to do that.

She also says that most people do not have high enough standards for their relationships, and second guess their standards to avoid being forever alone. This second guessing and ignoring red flags is what leads to women wasting years of their lives with scrotes. Keep your standards high, ladies!
