This is a really cute idea and those hair pins are everything.

Realistically, a knife is actually one of the worst self defense weapons to carry. Unless you’re highly trained and skilled with knives in combat, it’s more likely to be used against you in some form.

A taser and a collapsible baton are much better options for self defense. You want to avoid having to get up close to a threat.

The baton gives you extra reach and they’re very effective. With a taser, you don’t have the reach (unless it’s a stun gun), but they sound gnarly when triggered. The noise alone will make someone think twice about approaching you.

Only use these items if they’re legal where you live, of course.

You need samurai skills to take a scrote out with a tiny knife like that. It won't work for most women. Better give them a load of pepper or in countries where it's legal a taser or bullet.

Mineko Iwasaki depicted a specific scene in her autobiography "Geisha - A Life". She was coming back from an event and was being followed by a pervert who dragged her into an alley to molest her. Now, she obviously had one of her intricate Geisha hairdos, filled with all sorts of expensive and sharp hairpins. She just grabbed onto one and pressed it against the pervert's carotid. He was so scared by her that he fled like a coward.

(That book was written in response to Arthur Golden's "Memoirs of a Geisha" - he interviewed her while she was the most renowned Geisha/Geiko of Japan, and used all of her life experiences without her permission as basis for his novel, distorting and perverting them, making Mineko Iwasaki, who considered herself an artist, not a prostitute or an escort, feel very humiliated.)

I do this since I turned 13. It's also a classy hairstyle and more durable and comfortable to wear than a ponytail. On top of that it's more healthy for the hair structure. If you have straight hair but would love it wavy style your wet hair like that after talking a shower.

I've been wearing hairsticks for about 15 years. All three styles are pretty old, including the third. I believe the third is modified korean bun, third is if I remember right old viking or English style, and the viking women would braid the tail.

Korean bun (first style) is my go-to every day. So easy.

I rocked a slightly varied version of this for years in a management position. Instead of a knife, I bought a box of gold cocktail skewers and threaded 1 through my bun to secure it (in the same way you would weave in a pencil). It looked really classy imo but also gave me a safe feeling when I needed to leave work late at night. Plus, since the box size was for 5, I had like 4 backups for just in case I lost any. All you need sometimes is a few seconds distraction (maybe from a sharp object to the jugular) to find an escape in a scary situation.
