If he offers drinks or dinner, accept dinner. No need to even mention what you don't want, just accept what you do want.

Amen, since I stopped drinking this is much easier too. They request coffee dates and I've straight up said no, I don't accept coffee dates as they don't take any effort.

He agreed and we went to brunch. He's great thus far.

I'm kind of a jerk, but I'd still pass on this guy. I read this as... Here's all the things that I think make you an incredible woman, let's do this lame ass excuse for a date... Oh you wanna negotiate? Okay we'll do that instead. I don't much like the way he compliments her for expecting the decent date he should've came up with in the first place either.

I'd rather a guy who actually knows how to treat a woman and will do so, not treat me like I deserve less unless otherwise specified. If that's his idea of making a good first impression, it sucks.
