UPDATE: Wow! So many missing comments. This post struck a nerve. Anyway, so I didn’t include that his restaurant is in the same building as us. His storage is only accessible through our business. So he needs to walk through our business. Said blow up happened weeks ago. Yesterday, I sat down with my business partner and employees. Apparently, he has since been shitty to my business partner and employees ever since the blow up. Which is a stark contrast to his formerly bubbly personality. He won’t speak a word to me. Then, it turns out that he was running his mouth to the building owner. We analyzed every interaction we ever had with him and his business. There have been no issues. We are very quiet polite renters. Luckily, the building owner didn’t buy it. Also, my office is above his kitchen and I can kind of hear them talk. I heard my name and business mentioned several times. Recently, his partners and employees have been snubbing all of us. I took your comments into account and talked with a few female business owners. I have decided to “grey rock”. We aren’t going to work with his business anymore, we will no longer dine or hold meetings there. Should it come down to it, I will sue him for slander. Oh and the real kicker, he’s married. Newly weds actually. It’s kind of weird that I have never seen him wear a wedding band…..

Original Post

Recently, a business connection that was very important to my company was destroyed because the dude is butthurt that I’m married. In the past, when I sensed that a man was developing a crush, I would pepper in aspects of me that I think would be a dealbreaker. (Ie. Porn free, anti- strip club) I legit refer to my husband as “my husband” instead of his name as a casual reminder. Doesn’t matter. I walked into this man’s restaurant with said husband, dude threw a fit IN HIS OWN BUSINESS. My business partner said he has since pulled from an event we were doing together.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.
