The least thoughtful gift you can give to someone.

[–][deleted] 18 points19 points20 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

All we get use out of is the box it comes in assuming they 'splurge' on the set on the bottom shelf.

[–]marshmallowbluesFDS Newbie7 points8 points9 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

for real! i was organising my ample collection of hair dye supplies yesterday and desperately wished for one of those boxes. they are the best... it's about time to head out to my friends in the neighbourhood and see how got a low value christmas gift that has a box for me to use under my sink!

So low effort. I'd be more turned on if he at least used a 40% off coupon and bought me a latte with the savings.

I don’t know - I’m the reluctant owner of a Chia Pet!

The gender neutral generic sucky gift.

I did too lol then you realize its absolute crap that's bad for your skin, especially bubble bath stuff.

I call them the yeast infection gift set XD

I find it sometimes beyond crazy that some men seem to have „no idea“ what to gift a women and think we expect some high-end designer items to be „happy.

How about you listen what she likes, be attentive and symbolise this in a thoughtful gift? I’ve never meet any women who would feel terrible for a small but special gift than any of those random gift sets. To be honest: I would even felt slightly insulted if a men would buy me a random shower set ... like.. what do you try to tell me with this?

[–]delicateearthbabeFDS Newbie15 points16 points17 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Gift him the shower set back and tell him he needs it more than you do.

[–]yeorreFDS Newbie7 points8 points9 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Hah good idea! 😂

My boyfriend hand made a necklace using one of my favorite stones (rose quartz) and arranged them in a Fibonacci Sequence along the chain because I’m passionate about mathematics. That meant more to me than any gift I had gotten from a man before. A gift really doesn’t have to be expensive, just thoughtful and personal. It showed that he listened when I talked, that he put time and effort in, and that he cared about making me happy. This was less than 2 months in.

Love this!

[–]psychsenseFDS Apprentice12 points13 points14 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I’m a very creative person and everyone I buy gifts for tells me I’m the best “gift giver”. To me it’s not that hard to put a little creative thinking into a gift and it makes all the difference. It shows that you tried to, when you take what you know about a person and decide what to get them. I hate when people ask me for specific gifts, especially with romantic partners, because I like to see their creative side. And the process of deciding on something that you picked out instead of the person explicitly telling you shows you put emotional labor into it.

[–]yeorreFDS Newbie4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I feel the same. I don’t gift often but I make sure to give the person something meaningful no matter if expensive or inexpensive. The whole „goal“ of a gift is showing someone how much you love them and what they mean to you, isn’t that so?

It's even worse when female relatives buy them for you x.x

[–][deleted] 26 points27 points28 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

yes! Because they know >.<

Don't know what to get her? Get her flowers and hand-made chocolates from a local chocolatier. Unless she doesn't like chocolates, in which case, get her some other sort of hand-made sweet or good.

Write a message to her in a thoughtful card.

Those things are better than one of these sets.

[–][deleted] 19 points20 points21 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Its not even so much the price of the gift, its the thought put into it, for me anyway. And these take no thought and infact harm me lol.

[–]even_thrillerFDS Apprentice7 points8 points9 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I love handwritten letters too! People don't do t his often anymore and I love handwritten letters. Shows someone took the time to sit down and write me something.

[–][deleted] 17 points18 points19 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They go in the trash or given away. No way I'm risking my skin with that fragranced crap.

[–]Time_BarracudaFDS Newbie15 points16 points17 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The prices tell the whole story here- "You can have anything you want, honey- as long as its less than $12. What, you want me to spend $20? Fucking golddigger."

[–]Woman_on_PauseFDS Newbie13 points14 points15 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Glitter UTI sets, SIGN ME UP.

Real talk though, who buys these?!?!?

[–]Ms_TillyRuthless Strategist7 points8 points9 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

lmfao I use them when I get them, but they definitely don't WOW me. How about foot baths? I've received a few of those.

[–]MeredeenFDS Newbie7 points8 points9 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I always wondered who actually used these. I never really liked the scents in these much, and none of the things that come with them are ever really used in my normal shower routine. I don't even use body wash except for under my armpits, and these gift sets weren't exactly made with skin sensitivity in mind.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points8 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

🤣🤣

[–]RobotAmericanFDS Apprentice6 points7 points8 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

When in doubt, just don't buy cheap gifts. Better to get the person something that you know they'll use, no matter how small.

I'd prefer they give me a $10 gift card than spend $10 on this crap if they really can't afford anything else and have no gift ideas. That's more thoughtful than loading up on cheap stuff that's either going to be returned or thrown out.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I literally have no sense of smell, but even I imagine the stench of chemicals when I see these fly by night gift sets.

[–]sadpourtoujoursFDS Disciple2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You know got yourself a dusty if he gets you one of these and some $1 Walgreens roses he bought thirty minutes beforehand on Valentine’s Day.

[–]WestAtmosphereFDS Newbie2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

When you have these sitting somewhere in a closet from 10 years ago. 😂

Actually though men can sometimes be the worst gift givers. A lot of the time there is 0 thought put into it nor consideration for the women’s style etc.

I always used to ensure if I bought clothes (gift) that I knew my partner would wear them. I wouldn’t buy him something so far out in left field from his typical style.

[–]cmore_moneyFDS Newbie1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I have asthma so no.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

LOL, wow... that this has to be said.
